I'm looking for a multiplayer action RPG along the same lines as say, FF Crystal Chronicles on GC or Baldurs Gate 2 on PS2, specifically with couch co-op (and without needing GBAs for it >.<). I've played the secret of mana games, so those are out. I've got a modded Wii and PS3 so anything that'd run on either of those is a plus.

Any ideas?

That from the top of my head. As you see there, not every setting is the classic fantasy action RPG but they share the same gameplay tho.

Since after Penumbra all PC horror games are just FPP games where you run away from monsters holding IPhone, lantern, etc. I'm looking for some PS1/PS2/GC TPP shooter/slasher horror-ish games. I've beaten obvious titles like Silent Hills and RE4 also Obscure 2 (first one seems to be... boring?) and Onimusha games. I've tried Ghosthunter, but first person weapon animations are awful (and infinite ammo isn't my thing).
Btw. Are there any dark or horror RPGs besides Shin Megami Tensei games and Shadow Hearts?

Yes you need a 3DS flash kit and you need to be on an old 3DS firmware as the kit is blocked now and has been for a long time now from use on updated 3DS consoles

Parasite Eve RPG Action Horror (It's a Square Soft game but don't let that put you off)
Parasite Eve 2 Action Horror (RPG elements removed still a good one though)
Vagrant Story RPG Action Horror (Ye olde worldy scenario good but not as good as Parasite Eve but uses much the same system)

PS2
Project Zero aka Fatal Frame (Horror with a camera) [3 games] sounds lame but they are really very good games, better on xbox though except 3 that was on PS2 only, think of the Camera as a weapon (Never got that far in 3 so don't hate me if it sucks )

GC
Eternal Darkness Not that great graphically but the effects are just too much fun, it is also a very very good game
Resident Evil 0 & Resident Evil (The remake obviously)

I've finished all those games (PE2 6 or 7 times I think, great game) except Eternal Darkness and Fatal Frame. Camera stuff really sounds lame, but I'll try them all. Thanks.

The 4th Zero game was only released in Japan for the Wii. But it has been translated for a while now.

2 is on the Wii now also in English been meaning to play it, yeah played 4 a bit ages ago when the translation was first leaked as it was never intended to be patched directly onto a disc image (still need to fully play that), 2 was my overall fav though played through that a few times on the brick, very creepy games, love em.

im trying to recal name of 1 game it was actually closer to outzone



not so colorful as merc ikari warriors or shock troopers

but darker as outzone

i think there was a port or very similar game to it on sega game gear or master system but im sure 1st i seen that game on arcade machine

Also similar games with a strong on-line multiplayer presence. Old is ok for single player campaign style games, or if it is old yet still has active multi-player. My knowledge of PS3 games is limited.

I think I will try Dungeon Siege and Sacred II as suggested above. I played the original Sacred on PC and it was fun. I also played Diablo III on PC and was underwhelmed. Not enough of a difference from Diablo and Diablo II for me to be impressed.

Dead Island has online co-op. You can restrict public slots if you want, search for and join other games. Has guns and melee. I played it quite recently and it didn't seem dead online
