You possibly just need an updated bios image

I would try and use the audit roms option that is in most gui based versions of Mame to see exactly what is missing

Mame is a major pain in the backside for updates, because with every update a lot of older roms have new updated dumps including bios images from time to time, I know the bios of neo-geo has had several updates as well as the game roms
