took some time to check to see if my linux distro would work on my desktop. it was successful looks like it was my external dvd that was the problem. I messed with it for a few minutes MX KDE is a lot like win 8.1 looks like it'll be fairly easy to adapt to.
I think I'll do a partition and install soon.
