artist can change, that doesnt mean my taste in music has to change with him, lil flip for instance, once he started comming out with this love song bull shit and pop type music I stopped listening to his shit.

If you can actually relate to the feelings of actually performing a drive by or selling drugs, then you should be locked the fuck up. Nothing is cool about murder.

But im not, and thats the thing, niether is the person rapping, I can relate to the rush after the gun is busted, I can relate to the feeling of absolute power over crack heads when they give you there money for a tiny piece of rock. I can relate to the paranoia that comes with both of these things ya know and its kinda comforting to know someone has done the same shit as you have and they are still free

How can you relate to that when you have no idea what it's like? What about the artist, how the fuck do they relate to that? It's all lies.

Rappers are story tellers from the street. Think of it that way.

If half these peopel did what they rapped about, they would be in jail.
It varys from artist to artist, you get to a set point where becuase you out of the hood, you have nothing to rap about, then you start borrowing stories from your friends that you knew in the hood.

If you look at artist liek Jay Z the more he got into his career, the less he rapped about "hustlin on the block" then people liek Pirates "cant relate" then start bagging them out. Some people go for the "gangsta" aspect of rap, other go for the story telling.

Look at say Tony Yayo, dudes almost 40, and his rapping about being on the block.
Look at Jay Z's albums, he wasnt rapping about being on the block, he was rapping about shit he had or has done IE: the aparament he was kicked out of becuase old ladies didnt liek his black friends rocking up.

Tell me, would you rather have someone bullshit to you, or someone that tells you storys about their life. Keep in mind, the base of hip hop is story telling.
This is the reason hip hop is dead, everyone is "gangsta"

    I sell drugs.

I see the point you are trying to bring up, does that mean a pre-requisite to playing rap music is you have to "Shot da *****z on da block for taking my snow white"?
By that understanding, i could only play pop music if i had a broken heart.

That is what I was asking you. You said you haven't done things like that. The ball was in your court my friend.

Music is an art form that involves organised sounds and silence.
art often has goals beyond pure creativity and self-expression.
So your saying, if someone is happy and wants to express that, they fell off?

Music is an art form, have you ever tried to force art?

Oh forgot to add this quote:
"What you are about to wittness is my thoughts, right or wrong, it was what i was feeling at the time."

But as most critics of rap say.......rap is not music and in many ways it isnt, rap is a skill that consist of keeping a beat and story telling over music. Thats the true nature of rap.

No, I changed the thread title to something more fitting, since this isn't a clan, nor a guild. Don't blame me if you're not capable of properly naming your own threads.

That sounds like a lot of different kinds of music.

Im sorry, are these the same ones that said the top reason Jay Z is shit is becuase his Fugly?
Record label's sign artists, prove me wrong on that.
Ever heard the term A&R? (See Kanye West - Last Call. Just to name ones song)?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A%26R

Google "Rap Wiki" and you get:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music
Hip hop music, also known as rap music, is a style of music which came into existence in the United States during the mid-1970s, and became a large part of modern pop culture during the 1980s.
You flip flop to much, you say the Dirty south is the shit, a music based on chop and screwing music, yet in this post your saying rap is about storying telling after you have the nerve to say Jay Z and Nas aint good rappers.
Even after your big fuss over ganagsta rap and how you relate to gangstas and not "black man talking about pourin cristal on bitches while chewing on diamonds." Is that them not telling you a story? would you rather them make up bullshit? You are the PRIME reason hip hop is dead, becuase fuckheads liek yourself would rather hear "***** i shot a mother fuck BLAKA BLAKA while i was on da block" or "Expose hoes with ma hocus-pocus flows, they froze, now suckers idolise my, chosen blows."

It's the same vibe, Good Times had right after James died
That's why the gangsta rhymers ain't inspired
Heinous crimes help record sales more than creative lines
And I don't wanna keep bringing up the greater times
But I'm a dreamer nostalgic with the state of mind
Sit there and SRSLY think about that verse, and then come back and tell me which part of the music do you love the most, the crimes or the lines, becuase right now you are about the crimes, and you will NEVER have as much passion or enjoyment out of rap music as someone that is looking for that perfect line.

So the pen is mightier than the sword my lord
My first picture was a line-up, now I'm on the Forbes
And I still remain the artiste through thees all
If you force my hand I'll be forced to "draw"
If the war calls for war halls
Hope you got enough space on your hall's walls
I make *****z murals, then escape the bureau's
investigation, out in Europe on vacation
I'm back for these puppies with the pound boy
(Blaow) Here's a round boy (blaow blaow) down boy
Sound boy, you don't wanna soundclash loud noise
leave *****z paranoid if not paralyzed
Which means you can't walk in my shoes
Too much green you can't talk in my hue
Extend the team, ***** holla at Lu'
    1st and 15th, that's my cue, I'm through
That verse there, IS art, think about it.
