I was looking into getting one but I ended up buying a NUC. The Pi seems alright as an emulator box or a task machine but not for general purpose use.

I kinda want to get a Raspberry Pi. They're useful for programming purposes, and you can use them as emu boxes if you want.

yeah I was kinda wondering about their uses beyond emulation.

I was wrong about sending original Xbox from one side of Australia to the other. It costs more than $15aud now (although some sellers still have that as the postage fee).
It should cost something more like $19 standard, express is more like $26.
In USD that's like under $13 and under $19 respectively.

Also got around to building the X-01 Power Armor and got the jetpack plans for it.

They've really expanded it over the last year. Hadn't played it much before this run for about said year.

Also saving up the gold bullion for the secret service armor, up to about 1100 now. Need a lot more. Some of the pieces I've been wearing I've had since level 35-40 lol.

It's online only.
It sorta looks like 4 but a lot is different about it.
4 is actually a better game imo. 76 has new content added now and then but there is some really annoying stuff about it.
Gear is levelled and you need to upgrade it fairly often.

If you're not splashing out for an electric pump then I would still get a plunger sucker as well as using braid/wick.
The sucker is good for clearing holes after removing caps etc. Always good to remove as much old solder as possible and use fresh stuff.

If you're going a bit further (I mean stuff beyond basic like surface mount chips and such) then you might need to get some Chip Quik solder and maybe associated flux.
It's low melting point solder that makes removing ram chips and the like so much easier, it's amazing imo.

I've fiddled with some old boards from Beta players but trying to remove caps with braid didn't go over well. Should I be cutting the caps off first and then removing the dead legs ?

I knew it was online only. levelling gear doesn't sound bad if it's not stupidly done.

I don't think an RP is worth it unless you have a specific purpose in mind or you can get a kit for cheap.

It should be fine for that. A new RP4 kit runs around $50 - $100+ but I wouldn't advise getting the 2GB unless you're trying to spend as little as possible.

Yeah you can do that. I actually did the same thing when I replaced the battery in my DC. The solder was old and stubborn plus I had a crappy iron. Just couldn't heat it so I snipped the tabs off near the board and then applied more new solder to the remains of the tabs, then I could use braid ok. Cleared the holes with sucker and soldered in battery holder.

Another thing you can do with old caps if they have substantial legs is rock them gently until the legs break, this can be handy if you don't have the room to get in underneath with snips.
Gently though... you don't wanna wreck traces or something like that

Be careful with any fluid or residue from caps, just like you would with battery acid (wash your hands thoroughly and clean up board with vinegar first then isopropyl alcohol using cotton tips both times).
