I guess what I'm asking here is who is going to pick up a game this late in a series without having played the previous entries? I guess idiots, which there are lots of, but that doesn't really matter. Only sales matter, and this will get more sales. More sales means more chances of future games in the series so it's a good thing for you really.

I'll be getting a PS4 now at some point.
My biggest turn off about buying a gaming PC is the exorbitant entry fee. Once you're passed that, it's not so bad, but having to buy everything from scratch just intimidates the hell out of me. That, and some of my most beloved games are console exclusive.

That's going to be a problem for people who didn't play the originals anyways, doesn't matter what system they happen to buy KH3 for. I've never played any KH games, yet having the game be a Sony exclusive doesn't mean that I'm any more likely to play it. If someone buys the third game in a series expecting to understand every single thing that happens, they're in for a disappointment regardless of their console choice.

Besides, unless KH1&2 are available for download via PSN, there's no way for anyone to play it without tracking down a PS2 copy.

Eh, there's no reason companies shouldn't release their games on as many platforms as possible, especially since the PS4, Xbone and PC all share the same architecture and porting between the three will be easier than it's ever been. The market is so fragmented these days there's very little money to be made in exclusives, plus all they really do is fuck over the consumer. May as well try to reach as wide an audience as they can.

In other news, this last chapter of Alan Wake is absolutely horrendous. Can't wait to get this shit finished.

Last chapter as in 6 (main game), or last chapter as in The Writer DLC? I thought the game was mostly fine but the DLC contained some seriously bullshit battles here and there, especially when inanimate objects comes flying at you in a small room and you can't dodge shit. If the game went on for a bit longer I would've been very frustrated with the combat, thankfully it ended at the right time.

    It's really not THAT bad.

Yeah, most of the huuuge games are on PC but I'm into more niche titles and there are just enough big titles that are console only I think (Uncharted is enough, right? )

That is very much true. The entire Die Hard KH community expected it to follow the pattern and be exclusive. This news has shaken things up a bit. They found it to be extremely odd, KH is a pretty strong selling game. It felt logical that Sony would continue to hog the major releases of the series to itself, but I guess not. Even if 1&2 are put on PSN as a download you will be lost when it comes to KH3. I believe there are 5 handheld games(Maybe 4) which all add to the story before 1, in between 1&2, and before 3.

Also stop being upset about games being multiplatform. Most people who buy KH3 will have already played the previous games. There's no devil's contract that says you can only buy one company's consoles.

I really enjoyed early Alan Wake, but about half way through it got to be annoying.

I want to upgrade my PC but I guess I'll wait until 2014 when all the demanding next-gen titles start rolling out.

So basically what I'm saying is that I'll buy a new rig the moment I find out I can't run Thief 4.

Right at the beginning of chapter 6 of the main game. Just managed to get across a huge bridge that starts collapsing beneath you, only it's so dark you can barely see which sections are about to fall.

Then three tyres and a fridge hit you in the face mid jump and and push you off the side.

I've been alright with it so far but it's really starting to get frustrating now. Must have died about a dozen times before I made it.

The PC itself isn't that bad, but when you have to buy monitor, keyboard, mouse, computer desk chair, computer desk, speakers, and probably more stuff that I'm missing, the entry point is really damn high.

The company that I work for is a very large supermarket chain up in Canada. We own several control brand products that are designed to be sold at the store level as a way to keep major brands from artificially raising the price of their products because "it's the only option." We also sell some of those control brand products in other stores, because why the fuck wouldn't we? The money comes back to our company in the end, and gives us a means of getting paid even when the customer shops with our competitor.

Why wouldn't Sony want to release a huge game as a multiplatform release? Now they can also potentially make money off people who only own XB1. They've already distributed the fan base by releasing games on the DS, so it's not like all of the KH fans are Sony exclusive fans anyway.

I have a laptop. If I need to sit down and work on something I sit at the kitchen table. I don't play games on my laptop.
