This is reminding me why I used to love the old THPS games so much, they lost the soul in the newer games. Although I'll admit to loving THUG.

True. Although getting off your board was a little more natural (when you ram a wall for example) it took something away.

I think those of us who grew up with the THPS series were just too used to it.
The friends who got me into THUG absolutely refused to play anything before THPS4 because you were glued to your stick.
4 was just too good for them to pass up though.

I would still rather play the psx releases over ps2 any day. Mostly because once you stepped off the board, it seemed like an an adventure RPG or some shit. Sure, I'll develop my stats, but collecting ramps and haggling with the locals ...lolwat?

    Spoiler warning:

    Oh fuck, The Distillers.

It's crazy how much those games influenced my taste in music as a teenager.

Looking back over the soundtrack I remember THPS4 was the first time I heard Hot Water Music. Love that band so very very much.

I totally agree about that. The reason I stopped playing was because it became less abotu skating and having fun with each new installment. I was nuts over 4 because you could skate without a timer, and liked THUG because it had a really interesting story .
(to me, I was big into going pro at that age) I haven't played anything after THUG2 because I wasn't a fan of it for one, but I played a bit of the next one, I forget the name, but you have to find pieces to build quarterpipes and shit ingame. The Create-A-Park was great when you weren't forced to use it.

Same here. I forgot that they were my intro to new music when I was a kid. Growing up on the carnival, you hear the same mix CD playing every day all day, depending on what ride you're stationed by.

Absolutely. It was so hard finding music back then other than through the radio. There were only a couple of record stores where I lived, CDs were £15-20 a pop, Napster was just getting started and you couldn't have even imagined something like Youtube existing. Those soundtracks pretty much introduced me to punk rock from scratch.

Man it's been a long time since I've had an "This is EP" moment. All these dick jokes made me forget that ep for nostalgia.
