Welp RE5 on normal done.
Now the real shit begins.
Is RE5 a good game?
It's okay in co-op. But inferior to 4 in every way.
Hi Dr.Robotnik. How are you?
This.
Tons of extra modes and being able to keep your inventory on higher difficulties is nice and wins over RE4 in that regard in my mind though. Actualy I guess extra modes is prolly about the same but mercenaries is bigger I think (never really got into that part)
Sheva is a complete tool so yeah co-op is pretty good. The one thing missing that would have made this much much better in single player would be a simple "wait" command like you had with Ashley. The main game is rather short too. And I'm not a fan of the silly tentacle monsters.

I played 5 for about three solid weeks. I'm fairly certain I enjoyed it.I just... didn't like it as much as 4. And it definitely seems like one of those games that would be so much better co-op.
Okay. I really need to go to sleep now, before I start buying more NES games.![]()
Not saying I don't like 5 just that 4 is a tad better. Maybe it was just the atmosphere. Loved that castle![]()
Pretty much this. 5 took place in too many despairingly different places to really feel cohesive, where 4 had a real core, basic aesthetic that they used when tying the whole game together. Part of the atmosphere found a nice balance between "survival horror" and "third person action," which is also why it's one of the first games in the Resident Evil franchise I could truly sit down and enjoy. RE5 didn't have the full tight package.
It was, however, Super Fun Action Zombie Killer! (And Friends), which I love in a game. I don't really like survival horror, and I don't know why I keep subjecting myself to popular survival horror franchises when I know I'm not really going to enjoy them. One thing that I felt RE5 did better was present a rather tight third person action game. The melee attacks were better, the controls were just a tiny bit smoother, and it was less "scare tactics" horror and more "shoot unpleasant things" adventure.
From the sounds of it, RE6 was trying to be a combination of all of the above, and then add more on top of that to make it oh-my-god-so-much-better, and it got bogged down so heavily that no one knew where to even begin looking for a coherent game underneath.
Just my impressions. I'm getting rather drunk and should probably go to bed soon.
