Ye gods, where did all this come from? Well, time to answer a bunch of questions!
1 - Planning, creation of blueprints, prototype phases, and everything else included, it took approximately five years. The finalised design took a year to construct to optimum specifications.
2 - I'm not sure yet. I'm inclined to promote the Egg Carrier from "home" to "flying seat of power". I like my home. Still, it's not very approachable, so I might have a ground-based palace or somesuch as well. I'll think about it.
3 - Why thank you. And no offence was taken. Practically the entire world considers me to be the villain. They will learn once I take over, of course.
4 - I gave a fairly exhaustive explanation of Chaos Energy and the rings on page 82. The short summary: Sonic doesn't precisely collect rings, he collects the chaos energy they store. Once the rings are drained of their chaos energy, they dissipate until enough energy is gathered to require another shell to contain it. Essentially, rings, being order constructs - perfect circles and all that - contain the energy. Sonic absorbs the energy, which he uses to empower himself further.
This concept expands to the Chaos Emeralds. Again orderly constructs, crystalline in this case, able to hold an extremely vast amount of chaos energy. They can't be drained, as they represent Chaos in and of itself, essentially, but their power can be used, hence Super Sonic. That form requires such vast amounts of energy, however, that it's forced to drain on Sonic's remaining reserves of Chaos Energy at every turn. The games cleverly picked up on this by a decreasing ring counter.
1 - The answer to this question varies constantly, mostly because my memory's a bit hazy that far back. I think it was a small helper-bot I built when doing chores around the house began to annoy me when I was young. Mind you, if you searched through this thread, you might find a different answer altogether. I think this one's about right though.
2 - I'd plug in the Master Emerald. I do still have it on-board the Egg Carrier, you know. And no, Knuckles still hasn't realised.
- Silly random acts intended to create mild havoc. Or, alternately, Sonic on a sugar high.
- I don't really have one particular favourite, I'm afraid. I know, cheap answer, but it's the truth.

I said it would be Chaos Energy, because you wanted to re-create a Chaos Emerald. The clue is sort of in the title. If we're talking power crystals or similar, those aren't too hard to engineer. Just don't mess with the balance of order and chaos, would you? I have simulated what would happen. Haven't seen that much destruction on a screen since I simulated the effects of every nuclear weapon in the universe going off in one go.lol who said it had to be chaos energy hm? i'm sure if a gem/crystal can hold 1 type of energy then making it hold a different type couldn't be all too hard.
actually unless i'm mistaken, a imbalance of the originals would throw the entire balance of order/chaos out of whack depending on the severity, now THAT could wipe out 1/2 or all of existence lol be a heck of a way to go though, thats for sure.
well that or that truly insane theory of pulling infinite energy instantaneously from imaginary number space (not 100% sure but i think its a safe guess that such a high concentration of any energy type over a large area could warp and/or distort any number of laws of physics and likely reality or just about anything would happen inside the resulting mess)
edit: hmmm... a chaos energy leak... that sounds like it'd be fun to test in a computer simulation, if only to see all manner of freaky stuff happen

- Usually animal shaped. I tend to go with mythical creatures more of late though, the Egg Wyvern and Egg Dragoon being obvious examples.

The one that was never released, never recorded, and never actually made. The song is tripe. It starts off too slow to suit Sonic's character, but maintains something of a tone, and then that completely talentless rapper comes in and ruins it completely. Once that happened, any version of it simply reminded me of the idiot. Also, the singer in it can't sing very well.
So no, I don't like any version.
