Interestingly, not all cars have had handbrakes that operate the two rear brakes.
Some Saab's, Citroen's and older Subaru's are examples that have had "unconventional" arrangements.

I doubt Dan would need to worry about that though

You're right about using the main brakes, many people don't think about that scenario until after they've been in a pile-up
