I was suggesting you wait because prices will drop once they do .

Once again downloading an OS for that freakin netbook.

One is too big, one has no way to activate, one has no drivers suitable for the ethernet/sound/video/chipset. Company website only has 3G/sound/video drivers. Company website no longer sells restore software.

    ugh...

This one I'm downloading now is supposed to work perfectly on this specific netbook.

    yeah...

I'm fully prepared to be disappointed again, but this one actually looks like it will work...

    Spoiler warning:
TinyXP for Acer Inspire One (100A/8GB SSD/512MB RAM)
    ================================================== ==

    The included files are:

    1) unetbootin-windows-275.exe: a tool to install FreeDOS to make your USB stick bootable.
    2) ghost.exe: a program that runs in FreeDOS to write the diskimage to your SSD.
    3) TINYXPAAO.GHO: This is a diskimage of a clean install of TinyXP.

    The diskimage contains:

    - a clean install of TinyXP rev 02
    - tweaks to run faster and save the SSD as much as possible
    - all drivers for the hardware to function
    - AA1 Fancontrol to adjust the temperature for the fan to start
    - MS Office 2003 (WORD/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint)
    - MS Outlook connector (hotmail/msn/live.com)
    - Firefox (IE not installed)
    - Windows Media Player 9
    - all is in English

What is needed for a succcesful use of the image:

    - Bootable USB stick (1GB is enough)
    - Acer Aspire One 100A: 512MB - 1.5GB RAM / 8GB SSD
    - A windows machine with internet connecion to prepare the USB stick for the AAO
    - 20 minutes

    Step by step instruction:

    01) extract files 1 - 3 to your windows desktop.
    02) format your USB stick with FAT (not FAT32) and leave it in the usb port.
    03) run "unetbootin-windows-275.exe" by double click on the file -> RUN.
    04) Select Distribution -> FreeDOS 1.0
    05) check of Type: = USB Drive and that (IMPORTANT!) Drive: shows letter of the USB Stick.
    06) hit the OK button and wait till program says REBOOT or EXIT -> EXIT to close program.
    07) browse to the USB stick (start -> my computer -> click USB Drive.
    08) copy GHOST.EXE to the USB stick
    09) make a new folder (right click -> new ->folder) on the stick (i.e. IMAGE)
    10) copy TINYXPAAO.GHO to the folder created in 09).

Congratulation: Your USB stick is ready for the AAO.

WARNING: 1st back up all the files you like to keep, the image will overwrite the total SSD!

    11) put the USB stick into the AAO (the image takes care of format the SSD correctly)
    12) start the AAO and hit F2 or F12 and make the USB stick first in the boot sequence.
    13) when the USB sticks boot choos "default" in the 1st screen.
    14) next screen choose option 1:Install to harddisk using FreeDOS SETUP (default).
    15) when after an error and beep you see A:\>
    16) type "c:" then [ENTER] (c: is the drive letter from the USB stick)
    17) type "ghost" then [ENTER] (the program ghost starts)
    18) hit 2x the OK button to open the menu.
    19) your mouse doesn't work in ghost cause no drivers installed. Use TAB/ARROWS and [ENTER].
    20) choose LOCAL -> DISK -> FROM IMAGE then hit [ENTER].
    21) CHOOSE FROM: select the folder made in point 09).
    22) select the TINYXP.GHO -> open then hit [ENTER].
    23) CHOOS LOCAL DESTINATION: select your SSD drive (part 2/size 7695) the hit [ENTER].
    24) select OK then hit [ENTER]
    25) select YES then hit [ENTER]
    26) Sit back and wait till Ghost tells you the operation was succesful.
    27) Reboot the system and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!
