So one of the games that came with the Xbox came with a 2 month Xbox Live gold code. I tried scraping the silver stuff off and the code underneath is so blurry it's unreadable.

I wanted a free 2 months of Xbox Live gold for my gamertag.

Upgrade crystal Xbox to 160GB Seagate hard drive. Samsung DVD drive stops reading discs straight after. Think it must have been a long time coming...

Buys an older Xbox from eBay, takes the Thomson drive from that and puts it into the Crystal Xbox. All works perfectly on that end now.

Put the Samsung drive into the old Xbox that came today and try it out of curiosity. It reads discs perfectly. So now I have 3 softmodded Xboxes all in perfect working condition.

Remember my problem with my brother's modded PS2? I thought that the guy killed the laser, so I replaced it with my old motherboard dead PS2 laser, and while it did read discs, it stuttered a lot and had a lot of trouble reading discs, "well, the laser is like five years old", I thought. So I put the "old" laser back into the PS2.

Well shit, it works flawlessly now. Maybe the guy reinstalled the laser wrong after putting the PS2 together, I dunno, but it works now.
