How about announcing multiple games in a series before the first one is even close to coming out?
Oh FNC, you were surely one of the most fucked up ideas Square ever had.![]()
I'm not sure I'd want them to go that route either. Speeding up the release can lead to a lack of polish or a buggy/unfinished feeling game. But then again, if they handle it properly it won't be an issue. It's primarily a management situation at that point.
But I wouldn't count any chickens just yet. 2 years is loads of time to develop a game, even an RPG. It's also kinda vague about what they mean by "one ever year or two". This could just mean "we're going to start making more handheld FF's again". If we factor in the portable FF's and the spinoff titles (which obviously had nowhere near the development priority/costs/time), we had an FF about every 6 months for a while there. This isn't counting games that started as Final Fantasy/FF related titles but were eventually renamed (several PSX era Square RPGs).
One discouraged fan here. The only move they made which caused me to not want to pick up their next game was the announcement of DLC months before the game has been fully showcased to the public. One of the first things we knew about XIII-2 was "expect DLC". As such, not really too eager to pick it up.
Leaving a game incomplete so you can sell the missing pieces at launch is not something I intend to support.
More games, and a tighter release schedule are things I can get behind though. VS needs to come out already, like goddamn.
