Yeah, I've found it hard to get into a game long enough to beat it. I'm surprised Dead Island has held my attention for as long as it has. I'm determined to complete that one though.I have, but like the Wizardry games, I've never finished them.
And Atlus not being very nice hasn't really helped me along.
Another one that Atlus published that is very similar to EO is Class of Heroes. Although that's for the PSP.
Another good dungeon-crawler, is for the Sega Genesis, and goes by the name of Shining in the Darkness. It has really detailed sprites for the time, although they're static sprites. As well as being the beginning of Sega's "Shining" series of games. Also it lacks an automap and instead has a map spell. Which definitely adds to the overall difficulty, unless you have your graph paper handy.
