After the cut scene where wesker would kick me through the door, he would do a jumping roundhouse immediatly after exiting the cutscene, and sheva would be on the receiving end, and there was no way to get past wesker to help her. I forget how I managed to get round that problem in the end

Good luck, I'm fairly certain you'll be able to achieve that goal. I mean, getting a dino costume is one thing, learning to play the piano is another, but you already went ahead and cleared the hardest "obstacle" out of the three.
