When it comes to reading/recognizing, kana was mostly burned into my mind. I first started studying it a good 10 years ago and I still haven't forgotten it. Writing it without having to think for a second or two is another matter.
Yeah, fuckloads of Japanese-only games, Undubs and anime helped me to get to a point where I can understand certain stuff without subtitles. Which is kinda cool.
I'm not planning to take classes, just read textbooks, listen to audio CDs and stuff at home. But I'm also not aiming for extreme masterclass fluency, so I guess it's okay.
My only goal here is playing a few games that will never get translated. Growlanser for example.
I am here.
Cosmic went to America and didn't tell me? FOR SHAME.
Also,I am never doing my 'walk in a random direction till some force stops me' thing again. Today was stupid.
You should!I never really made a focused effort to learn Japanese until I came to university, and I managed to get to the point where I passed the second highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. And judging by your amazing English, I'm somewhat less adept than you at foreign languages, so if I can learn it I'm sure you can too. Especially if you're playing multiple fifty hour RPGs every year.
