When I got to work this morning, both of our full-time cutters had phoned in sick.
So the 20 man hours that were supposed to be dedicated to cutting meat today was cut down to 7 hours of just me, trying to keep fresh meat in the case for a shop that routinely does $20,000 in sales on a Thursday.
    I was less than impressed.

LOL, I have been out of school for a week!
Econ? What a bothersome subject. To me at least.

I know a few cutters who can get that amount done in 7hours.
Sure they are alcoholics and leave immediately after their mediocre cutting, but they CAN do it.

Well, I'd still do it. I truly would.

Yeah, I don't do mediocre cutting. Or at least, I try not to. I let my standards slide a little bit today to attempt to keep up.

Oh, I forget there are people who take Summer courses.
I need money, so not working is out of the question.

These guys did this daily. Come in hung-over, cut for the whole day's customers and leave.

Also, why is it that the "fast" meat cutters are always alcoholics?
Sure, their cuts look like shit and half the time I'm scared to death they're going to run their head through the saw, but still... this is a reoccurring theme, it would seem.

We had one guy who looked like he was just tearing the meat apart with his bare hands, he was flying so fast.
Of course, every fifth or sixth cut he would get wrong. But still!

I do know one who is an amazing cutter. He is also a work-aholic though, so he is happy with 12+ hours a day plus driving to our store (45 minutes one way).
You could say that mutilating animals would be traumatic, so they drink, but they have no faces when they arrive. Or at least not in our store.

I knew a guy like that once. We called him Ol' Hook Hand on account of his hook hand.

    Ours don't either.

I could see if they were working on the killing floor at the slaughterhouse. But honestly, it's not that bad, as long as you don't mind the sight of blood.
At least, I never had a problem with it. But the people that I work with, for the most part, aren't really "normal," either.

We don't want to hear about your past-lives.

Now that I think about it (the people of my store) none of them live in town like I do. They all commute here. If anything is strange, thats something.

You're getting that confused with Edward Penishands.

A completely normal mistake, I'm sure.
