i would recommend listening to yngwie malmsteen rising force this guy is with out a doubt the fastest guitarist out there and he plays very clean classical scales only i would recommend listening to helloween/ michael kiske and mark boals great music
I only need Sonata Arctica in my metal collection.
I can't really think of a better genre to lump them under, at least pre-Hate Crew Deathroll. The last couple have pretty much been groove metal with solos though.
Attack Attack are a uniquely crappy metalcore band that thought integrating cheap pseudo-techno keyboard lines and more pop elements was a good way to improve their music. As you can guess, it worked about as well as most attempts. Fun Fact: The vocalist in the infamous 'crabcore' music video is actually lipsyncing - they fired the previous vocalist after recording the voice track and just shot the video with the new vocalist, not bothering to record a new vocal track.
On a sucky note, Phil Vane, vocalist and founding member of Extreme Noise Terror, died recently. Reason hasn't been released yet, but it sucks to lose another icon.
On a not so bad note, I'll be going to Soundwave this saturday. Seeing a ton of awesome bands, Slayer and Iron Maiden highest amongst them.
Lotta core on the lineup and a stage worth of pop-punk, but a fair number of good bands overall. I'll be seeing:
Terror
Devildriver
High On Fire
Dimmu Borgir
Slayer
Kylesa
Rob Zombie
Melvins
and Maiden
Plus whatever else I feel like at the time.
If I only wanted to see Maiden, I'd have gone to one of their sideshows. Would've cost me a hell of a lot less.
I really like heavy metal music, some of my favorite bands are:
Amon Amarth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Overkill, MayheM, Morbid Angel, Death, Grim Reaper, Heavy Load, Cattle Decapitation, Napalm Death, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Motley Crue, Yngwie Malmsteen, Beyond Fear, Iced Earth, Cannibal Corpse, Black Sabbath, Dio, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Venom, Accept, U.D.O, Children of Bodom, Immortal, Carcass, Decapitated, Tankard, Danzig. etc.
I could go on for hours haha. I also like classic rock, and hard rock
Humm, Dimmu Borgir and Rob Zombie are nice enough for the extra 60, I think. I saw Iron Maiden last year here in Brazil, it was EPIC.
If Death is so bad, why do all skulls seem to smile?
