I don't know. Having Plissken there for a lot of the time made the absence of Snake okay in my eyes. In fact, I kind of liked the notion of having the previous main character commentating from the sidelines.

Bear in mind that I haven't actually played MGS2 since I was about sixteen, though. My opinion probably isn't worth much.
