The game itself is quite decent.
You only need 4 toons, and you can respec into 1000's of different builds.

I was quite taken by the party system and the rift spawning.

i only need two months, Tourchlight 2 comes out soon IIRC.

I wouldnt call Rift a WoW clone, more so the term WoW clone is thrown around WAY to much, just becuase a new MMO comes out, doesnt mean its a WoW clone.
If anything Rift has far more new ideas in it then then WoW has in its current state.

Blizzard stopped giving a shit about WoW when WoTLK came out, they worked out that dishing out loot for no real reason made the casuals happy, and casuals being happy = $$$$$

They set Heroics to hard, people complained, they nerfed them, shit when they first came out you'd CC everything, nowdays you just run in spam AoE attacks and then collect loot.
WHILST this is fun if you want a quick dash and grab, it really dumbs down the game...

Rifts got some good things going for it, another forum i go to has already, seen a sharp decline in posters in the WoW section, and needless to say, the Rift forums going off tap.

Rifts got some good things going for it, leveling wise, and being you only need 4 toons, to play all the different classes, is a smart move on their part.
