Naruto Discussions (Manga only!)

I made this thread somewhat specifically for manga discussions. You all can discuss anime here if you'd like, but that's what the other thread is for. This is more for manga related conversations and so I expect that what's said here, manga wise, is not to be spoken about in the other Naruto Anime only thread. :)

Now, is it me, or is Shikamaru overated? I mean, I see him now in the latest issue of the manga, and yes he's a great squad leader, yet on his own, he can barely survive fights. o_O And he's what, a Chuunin? Or Jounin? Whatever....

Da dude is a chuunin examinator yknow like in the chuunin exams. And yeah its true that Shikamaru can barely fight but he fights with style though something like "Sorry but you were too dumb for me, and heel im fuckin weak.. You got owned bitch OWNED!!" sumthin lyk that <<;

He's damn lucky he had some back up against Hidan and his partner. o_O

It's the manga's focus on elite fighters that's skewing perceptions a bit. Shikimaru is a prodigy in tactics and leadership, and he's a skilled fighter in his own right as far as ninja go (at least those around his age/experience). But he isn't focused on it the way most Naruto characters are, nor is he really used to working alone against serious fighters.

Skilled fighter, within a team, yes. Alone? Once, he ran out of chakra, the second major battle he had, he needed to be rescued. I think later on he was rescued again by Asuma. C'mon. The dude only has his shadow techniques to rely on in single battles, and his chakra supply is very, very low. Well, he's definitely the thinking mans fighter, but based on his history in battle on his own, he's a weak fighter.

Lets just see how it works first before making any assumptions that it sucks. I mean guys, the manga just ends with Naruto holding it in his hands and Kakuzu freaking out like a little kitty :P

Yup...he did :D Also, I've got a few questions. Was Asuma Shikamaru's father ??? Or was he just his sensei ??? Also, if he was indeed his father then it makes Shikamaru a "Sarutobi" Also, there is a confusion. The third hokage was referred to by Orochimaru as "Sarutobi Sensei" and it was known somewhere in the manga/anime that Asuma is also a "Sarutobi" which is Asuma Sarutobi. Now if Konohamaru is third hokage's grandson, then who was his father ?? and how is Asuma related to the Third Hokage ???

Wasn't his father killed? I thought I saw that in one of the early episodes when Konohamaru was first introduced as the thirds' bratty grandson to Naruto.

Well, I heard it in the Anime when Asuma was standing in front of the third's grave and was thinking of the past or somethin like that :P

Edit II: So now, is Sarutobi a clan or somethin ??? If its the Last Name (aka Surname) then how is he related to the Third and Konohamaru ???

In the anime....that can't be good. That could have been a filler line. :wacko: Also, there's no mention there about him being related to the third. Only that he has Sarutobi to his name. I suppose he could be, though. It mentions how many packs he smokes, but not if he's related to the third. :lol

Asuma is the Thrid's son, he smoked in the manga and said dad looking at the third hokage face on the mountain

Yes, it outright states several times after the manga timeskip that Asuma was the Third's son. Asuma had a little "self-speech" to himself while lamenting about the Third's death, apologizing to him for being such a bad son. (it's mentioned by Asuma several other times in the same timespan of him lamenting over the Third)

I guess Konahamaru was Asuma's nephew, since he calls Asuma "uncle" at one point

I've seen the light! Thanks to some convincing from certain members at NarutoCentral forums, I now see Shikamaru for the brilliant ninja he is. :nod:

seriously 341 blows. the new jutsu...im unimpressed it was totally not chakra explosion devastation that has been there forever it was like a dragonball clone. LAME. and is it just me or did you read that chapter in like 3 seconds...

I didn't actually bother to read it. I just skimmed through the pictures. His new move reminds me of a destructo disc. :|

yeah the chapter wasnt very long,i think it will look alot better animated though and have a better effect than just seeing a manga version of his new move

His home coming was around 250 I think and his meet up with Sasuke around 300 I have no idea but they are around these chapters if I remember correctly

Do you guys think that the story will continue with Sasuke and Orochimaru looking for trouble in Konoha? Or they'll go back to hunting for Akatsuki members?

I think there's going to be a tear between Orochimaru and Sasuke, Sasuke wants to kill Itachi and Orochimaru has a different objective and I see a Sasuke vs Orochimaru fight in the future :beavis:

That would be so cool :D :hitit: Or at least, Orochi will let Sasuke go for a while so he can hunt down his brother Itachi and may be Sasuke will end up having a SUPER COOL fight with him :drool: Also, it would be really nice if Konoha gets a wiff of this and Tsunade sends a team (which OBVIOUSLY includes Naruto) and they end up brushing against Sasuke again and by this time, since Orochimaru is not there to stop Sasuke go FULL HEAD ON as he did previously, may be Sasuke and Naruto will have a fight again between them to see who's more powerful and shit like that :P

Naruto will have to do some serious training then lol because last time they saw Sasuke, they couldnt even see him move he was so fast :beavis:

Now that I think of it, I really wonder WHAT THE FUCK was Naruto doing all those two and a half years while Sasuke was training uber hard and shit and has become so ultra fast with really cool moves, etc, etc :( Coz you know Naruto just learned that new jutsu (wind shuriken rasengan or whatever :P) AFTER he came back from his "TRAINING" with Jiraiya. Ya guys think he just learned how to become "Kyubi Four Tails" in that period of time ?? Coz if its JUST that, then its just so lame :disgust:
