:P I have a very odd stance with emulation. In my opinion, we shouldn't emulate games that we can still easily purchase (similar to the site's stance on abandonware). The "don't fuck developers" theory's got nothing to do with emulation. I'm sick of people who pair emulation with piracy. (No offense intended) If you've got a good PC you can emulate Wii and still get genuine games to emulate. Emulation prevents games from dying into obscurity. I pretty much hate WiiWare because of Nintendo's stance on emulation. (It's okay if you do it on our device, otherwise you're bad bad boy). I would prefer to buy original cartridges and then emulating them on PC rather than getting them on wiiware.

Though all of that is pointless since they don't sell any original games where I live. Everything is pirated. The only not pirated games I have are some that I bought when I had traveled to other countries. (And some my brother got me who lives in uk)

EDIT: besides, for a lot of retro games, the original developers have either retired or moved to other companies, so your money won't be going to the devs if you purchase them. You're just paying because copyright law is fucked up.

The people who emulate so that they don't ruin their own game is such a minuscule section of the emulation community that I don't factor them into anything. Really, I have no problem with emulation at all, as long as the person continues to buy games. Nintendo is well within their rights to say "that copy of our game out there is illegal based on copyright law, take it down." I don't fault them for that. And while some games may be relegated to obscurity, that's the nature of any generated medium. It's a shame, but does everything need to be perfectly preserved? Is the world somehow a better place because that copy of Bubble Bath Babes is still floating around in the internet somewhere?

And I agree with Nintendo's stance on emulation, at least as you've presented it. Nintendo is allowed to at least try and relegate how their games are put out into the market, and if they're going to be offering some of their classic games for people to download, why would they also allow people to freely download those games on the Internet and not try and reap some of the benefit of it? I will never disagree with a company trying to protect their products. I feel it's one of the reasons Nintendo has succeeded all these years when most other companies have failed.

Unless you DO own them. For instance, if you own SMB for NES, Nintendo's stance is that you have to buy it again for Wii if your original NES console is not working anymore. Now that alone wouldn't hurt much, but they outright lie about how playing it on emulators is illegal when it's 100% not. So they lie to people so they would get them to buy what they already have.

Yeah it's good business, it's keeping them alive. But it would also be good business for them to barge into your property and take what they want. It's profitable, yet not acceptable. I think Nintendo's stance is profitable for them, but not acceptable for me. (or any other human being who's not part of Nintendo)

Nintendo's stance has always been that it's illegal to download an extra copy, but perfectly legal to make an extra copy for yourself. Difficult with cartridge based media, like the NES->N64/GB->3DS, not so difficult with the Wii. While their stance on emulators themselves is archaic and ignores the homebrew scene (and also wouldn't hold up in court), they have to protect their assets, and would not be doing their due diligence to their shareholders if they did not.

Yeah, there's no legitimate basis for that either. UPLOADING is illegal. You are allowed to have extra copies. How you come into possessing them is irrelevant.

Even if they change the laws so it becomes important by what methods you create your extra copies, I think you can always download them and claim you've made them yourself. Since there are no differences in the file whatsoever whether you've dumped it yourself or you've downloaded it from the internet, it would be impossible for them to prove you've done anything illegal. Which would make it a redundant change.

tl;dr Nintendo lies about everything. Me no like being lied to.

Flip flops do require a bit of logic to work, but can be built a few different ways. I can't say what I am designing right now.
