sorry, never played that game (sonic 2 battle i think it was though), couldn't find a copy for gamecube and never owned a dreamcast :/ or was that one of the cartoon/anime series?

1 - Planning, creation of blueprints, prototype phases, and everything else included, it took approximately five years. The finalised design took a year to construct to optimum specifications.

4 - I gave a fairly exhaustive explanation of Chaos Energy and the rings on page 82. The short summary: Sonic doesn't precisely collect rings, he collects the chaos energy they store. Once the rings are drained of their chaos energy, they dissipate until enough energy is gathered to require another shell to contain it. Essentially, rings, being order constructs - perfect circles and all that - contain the energy. Sonic absorbs the energy, which he uses to empower himself further.

This concept expands to the Chaos Emeralds. Again orderly constructs, crystalline in this case, able to hold an extremely vast amount of chaos energy. They can't be drained, as they represent Chaos in and of itself, essentially, but their power can be used, hence Super Sonic. That form requires such vast amounts of energy, however, that it's forced to drain on Sonic's remaining reserves of Chaos Energy at every turn. The games cleverly picked up on this by a decreasing ring counter.

1 - The answer to this question varies constantly, mostly because my memory's a bit hazy that far back. I said it would be Chaos Energy, because you wanted to re-create a Chaos Emerald. The clue is sort of in the title. If we're talking power crystals or similar, those aren't too hard to engineer. Just don't mess with the balance of order and chaos, would you? I have simulated what would happen. Haven't seen that much destruction on a screen since I simulated the effects of every nuclear weapon in the universe going off in one go.

- Usually animal shaped. I tend to go with mythical creatures more of late though, the Egg Wyvern and Egg Dragoon being obvious examples.

The one that was never released, never recorded, and never actually made. The song is tripe. then i guess you'll like the ones i'm making. i'm working on remakes of the two Zebrahead ones, the two Crush 40 ones, the Brawl Instrumental, and an original one. honestly, can you tell the difference between the three main ones? i personally don't like Crush 40s His World 2, nor the Brawl instrumental.
