Viewtiful Joe is awesome, totally forgot how awesome it is.
i like Galaga, OoT, SS, and i haven't really filled my top ten of games yet.
Only problem I have with the Bible is people taking it seriously and claiming it came directly from God when it was written (and translated) by the hands of Man. Humans are fallible and prone to skewing things according to their own points of view. Even if it was dictated by God, things have been added and removed and just lost in the translations. Bleh. *shutting up now regarding Bible*

I didn't know god wrote in Hebrew :wacko:Quote:

But seriously, until it's proven 100% The Bible = writings.
ima write a book about the amount of plagiarisms in the babble.
And then there's people who cherry pick which parts of the Bible support their horrible ideologies. EX: Anti-Gays are all like "it says in the Bible that man should not lay with man!" while the Bible also says things like "slave-owning is fine" and "women must wear veils", ect.
Now now children, there's no use in bashing a religion you know nothing about.
Once again not going to backread :D
I get that.
Now for the slave-owning part, I've gotten some interesting tidbits on what a slave was back then.
I would say, before Exodus, slaves were more of a indentured servant....just without the pay. It also says in the old testament that after 7 years go by and the "slave" in question wants to be free, the master would let him go.
Still not sure if that's how it went down
Plus I'm almost 100% sure that was the slave owner's backup reason for enslaving Africans in America and blah, blah, blah.
It is full of interesting stories. It's just that people keep talking about it while some of them don't actually read it from cover to cover. That happens a lot, just look at all the anti-Harry Potter people who kept claiming the books were full of Satan's words and never opened the book and saw it was just about a kid who is forced to fight off a snake-faced man while attending school.
You poor, poor dear....just remember: Not EVERYthing you do will send you straight to 'HELL'...I promise!!
Was raised that way myself...bleecchhh....they give a new MEANING to 'guilt trips'...
Imagine telling a young teenage boy (ME at the time!) that if, and I quote the 'priest': "you gratify yourself sexually, you have a seat at the right hand of Satan!" .....wow...good stuff...thats not horribly archaic and grotesque, eh?
From what I can remember, the Seventh Year freedom thing was just for Hebrew slaves owned by Hebrews.
Which one? I chose "Little Flower", but that was mostly because she was Mom's and I thought Mom said that her family had the Saint as their patron. Turned out that her Mom tried to make that Saint the family patron.
my father went to catholic school and he made it hell on earth for those nuns!
I don't believe that. If you've read my comments regarding the Bible, you'd see that I'm regarding what's written as outdated but for the most part well-meant attempts and relaying moral ideals. It's just skewed by people's perceptions during translations and edits. I wasn't raised to believe that if I did ___ I'd go to Hell. I was raised to believe that if I did ____ I'd be in trouble. Besides, I personally think that God is more like a father. An actual father. He's giving us distance and not taking active roles in our lives because he wants humanity to grow up. He's still there if we falter but we need to come to terms with what our problems are and how to fix them ourselves. I don't remember my priest ever saying things like that, but I did remember this one whole thing about "God is everywhere" and I blurted out "even in naughty places?" and he said yes. I remember that because I thought it was funny/gross that God was in toilets and trashcans.
LOVE organized religions! Lets give us all MORE reasons to fear/mistrust/HATE each other - AWESOME!! JUST what this poor old world NEEDS!!
:toss:
Tulkas - REMEMBER: God is in your GENITALIA!! MWAAA-HAAAA!!
Same with my Mom. She and Dad had horror stories about the Nuns of that age. Sticking the gum you were chewing onto your face. Smacking you with rulers. Tearing the hems out of your jumper/dress if it wasn't at least a certain length... I actually was taught by a couple nuns who were nuns during that time. Sister Ave and Sister Regina. Both were nice to me (because I was a nice friendly, well behaved young lady) but both were strict in class. Sister Regina was also strict in the hallways and would take drink-containers from students at lockers. A friend had a thermos of coffee.
Yes. This. YES.
1) Religion can be a good thing. It can give you hope during dark times. Problem is, people are easy to whip into zealots over religion... over anything, really.
2) :| Yours too.
I shal skim through this.
1.) Humans will always use any means to convey their ideals, it just so happens the Bible has some things that shouldn't be crossed. (I.E. Ten Commandments.)
2.) I hope no one was raised into "If you do such and such, you're burning forever" kinda of a back lash to a person's personality if you delve into it.
3.)I think I heard something along these lines before.........but I don't feel like saying useless stuff, so I'll keep it to myself.Quote:
Besides, I personally think that God is more like a father. An actual father. He's giving us distance and not taking active roles in our lives because he wants humanity to grow up.
4.)When I asked that question, I had a ruler to the hand :wacko:Quote:

EP: The Promised Land
Video game store circa 1992: The Promised Land.
1) M'yup.
2) I hope so too. Sadly, there probably are people raised with such beliefs.
3) It's okay. This is just something I've come to a conclusion on my own regarding God and my life and observations. If you don't believe in God or believe that He's present, that's fine. I'm not going to get into an argument over that. The main reason why I believe in God is because it was what I was taught to be true. Sometimes I wonder whether it is true, other times I conclude that God is busy looking over other parts of Creation (ie: other galaxies) or is resting again.
4) No nuns were present.
