Honestly, most childproofing is based on things like manual dexterity and strength, rather than the ability to read the instructions. For example, those covers that go over doorknobs. When you have tiny hands, it's hard to get your hand around it, harder to reach both of the spots with grips on the inside, and even harder to exert enough force on those to actually hold the knob itself. Hell, even I have problems with those things sometimes.
Same thing goes for power socket protectors. Unless they're smart/stupid enough to use tools, it's bloody difficult to pop one of those out.
