    Default PSP 2000 CFW?

My son has bought a PSP2003, I assume PSP 2000 series. OFW 6.38. Can it be modded with CFW, or is it easier to just sign games? I've tried a small OFW game, it boots no problem.

P.S. the 3 on the end just means you either have a funny coloured PSP or a limited design (maybe part of a pack that included a game) [I'm guessing you have a blue or a red psp there though... more for the red]

    2000 = black
2001 = white <- is what I have and previously I had a 1001, yeah that was also white

reasonably sure I'm still on an older CFW but I have a hack to let me play more recent games... guess I'm not fussed until I find a game I can't play that I actually want to play lol

GTA San Andreas - Real Car Names extra content mod [WIP] [Back burner, just won't have the time ]

remeber to read the information, cause for the longest time i had no friggin idea how to use ISO's/CSO's with the CFW on my psp. depending on your PSP it uses different button combos to get to the CFW menu.

    It's black.

It looks like the PSP-2000 pictured here.

If I do a hard reset, the PSP boots to OFW, so I need to run Fast Recovery tool from the PSP’s Game menu to re-enable CFW. Shutting down in sleep mode leaves the CFW intact.

It's been a while since I've modded a PSP, the last was a phat using Lumines. I made an ISO folder in the root of my memory card, the few games I've tested work fine.

Your about halfway there if you want permanent CFW. First of the rest of this is gonna probably be useless If the PSP was bought new with anything at or above 6.38 OFW (Official Firmware) because I think you can only downgrade to a firmware greater than or equal to the factory installed OFW when your PSP was purchased. If it used you have a better shot of it being able to do so. (It's been awhile for me too but there was a time. )

If not, I would consider downgrading to 6.20 and install either 6.20 PRO B-10 Permanent (2000) or Install 6.20PRO-C fix3 Permanent (3000).

First is the Home button on the PSP the PS logo or does it say HOME? If its the PS logo it's a 3000 and if it says HOME it's a 2000.

If it's a 2000 you'll need to find out what type of motherboard you have using PSPIdent. Ignore steps 1-10 since you already have a form of custom firmware on your PSP. I'm guessing you don't have a TA-088V3 motherboard because you already have 6.60 Pro C fix 3 installed.

And if you cant find the GAME folder. Backup everything on your MS (Memory Stick) to your PC, then format the stick using the PSP, and it will make the folder tree for you. You'll see it next time you access your memory card from the PC.

If it's a 3000 you'll need to identify the module. (Also in the guide in the link). Forget what I said about or 9g not being downgradable. I think there's a downgrader for and 9g's now but gotta make sure it's the right one.

Was part of a pack then, that included a game and or a memstick pro.. teach me for second guessing

    2003/2004 had a memstick included

both mine had no memstick, just aswell I eventually got a dual micro SD to memstick converter and 2 32GB micro SD's (it's still less that 60GB realy though) and still cheaper that the largest memstick
