My E6420 and 8800GTS run the game nearly maxed out at 1680x1050. It looks better than a XBOX360 and loads hella faster

Sorry, I just felt like picking on the 360. please don't hurt mez!

Ya know. I always laugh at that.

Buy this to play this! IT'S GREAT!

It's also the same thing you'll be doing next spring.

$10 says my PS3 will play next spring's PS3 games without upgrading the video chip

And they'll look the same! That point is pretty moot, if you want to keep upgrading about once a year, go for budget parts. My 8800GTS should last about 3 years, about 3 times the life span of those early Xbox 360s

Hell the 9800XT cost about $300 when it came out nearly 4 years ago and can still play nearly any game, except possibly bioshock.

Not really. Compare the Final Fantasy that came out with the PS2, and then Shadow of the Colossus.

They don't even remotely look the same graphics-wise.

That's just it though. I can't justify paying $300 for one tiny part of a computer.

    I dunno...PC games aren't mah thang

They're mine, but I can't afford my habit.
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

    And to top it off....

My son bought Counterstrike (Source or whatever), and it's refusing to run on his Vista machine.

And I grew out of consoles. I love customizing and tweaking. I make kind of a big deal out of it when it doesn't take much time to do What's sad now is that a PS3 cost more than my first build, which can play nearly any game, minus FEAR, bioshock and a few others. And your so limited on what you can do with it, plus they flatout just don't perform in areas like a PC can. DiRT on my PC? loads a course in 6 seconds. DiRT on the 360? Loads a course in about a minute.

But I'm done with this... So what's new?

? Hmm, you know I never can seem to reproduce many of these vista problems. But my copy of Vista is retail. His PC is completely OEM with probably a custom OEM edition of Vista, which might be the issue. What's wrong exactly?
