255 is used alot in cheats because in hexadecimal it is FF

00 is 0, FF is 16X16 which is 256, 256-1 (the 00 being 0 means we subtract 1) =255

so in Hexadecimal, FF=255, thus, alot of hexidecimal memory values are written with a maximum of 255

just a little trivia...
