I love Castlevania. The recent metroid-esque ones, I mean. Symphony of the Night is one of my all-time favorite games.
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

There are ever so few of them anymore though. Not counting the 3d gamecube ones, which I never got to get my hands on, not owning a gamecube. I doubt I'd like the FPS style as much as the 2d platformers. Metroid 2: Return of Samus comes in JUST under symphony of the night as far as 2d platformers go for me.
Still a good number of 2d RPG Castlevanias around. SotN, the three GBA games, and 2 DS games. Pretty sure there's more to come, too.
I also need to get myself a DS.

Metroid 2 was ace. So fun to hunt down Metroids.

I'm sure you'd like the Metroid Prime. It feels so Metroid-ish even though it's in 3D.
