I believe it's just recommended to have (insert value here) ram on XP systems. Just like it's recommended to have (insert value here) on Vista-running systems. My sister has XP on a 256 mb ram PC (this one originally ran with win2000) Of course, she doesn't do much else than Word/Excel/Firefox, but it works nicely.

I just realised, my grandad used to run XP fine on a Duron 1.3 w/256MB ram perfectly.
My uncle used to run XP fine on a duron 1.3 with 190MB ram perfectly.
I run XP quite nicely on a P4 and 1GB RAM.

The rumours sorrounding XP's RAM usage have been greatly exagerated.

    At least, to you.

On the old computer in my bedroom, windows XP uses 160 MB of RAM all alone with no other programs opened. I've got a lot of the windows stuff, especially the stuff involving printing and internet, disabled.

Discs suck all together. When I get ADSL, I've decided I will have an external drive for each subfolder I have in my media folder now. They are easy to keep organized and I'll be able to add and remove stuff heaps more easily.

I'll have a drive for Ebooks, Movies, games, music, apps, TV, emulation and Audio books.

Actually I might keep movies on discs.

I'm trying to track down an easy way to burn video to DVD so my DVD player can play them. I want to watch Quantum Leap on TV.

I have to burn Xbox games to DVD+Rs, since my Xbox only has an 8GB hard drive.
