Hey, I got my DVD-RW drive out of the trash (kinda). Sure, it only burns at 1x speed and reads at 4x, but it's more than what I had, just a CD-RW. Don't knock trash hardware.

I can't imagine too many things you can do that require a full GB of ram considering you've got nothing more than 64 MB integrated video. See how many Firefox windows you can have open at once, maybe? You don't seem like the type to be into video editing or photoshopping....
