I'm not a avid follower of either. I'm currently running an 3000+, so I guess you could consider me an AMD fanboy.

    And, how much are they?

I can tell you that buying a Core Duo was out of the question when I bought a new PC, but an AMD X2 fit right in my range.

Nah, they're not expensive at all. Unless you're looking at a Core 2 Extreme.

What're the differences between the Core 2 Duo, and an AMDX2?

As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

You get what you pay for.

If you can't afford $30 more, then you're going to end up with a pretty terrible PC anyways.

The lower end Core 2 Duos are $160.

That's it? So they're virtually the same pieces of hardware?

The specs I posted are part of a self-build on which I spent a grand total of $998 dollars + shipping.
