I might eat some ice cream. Rock hard isn't as bad as freezer burnt.

    Yeah.

    But this is sorta different.

It was in the massive monster-mama freezer. About a week ago I moved it to the fridge-freezer ebcause it was too hard to get out. Like, it was rock hard, spoons bent, worlds collided and shit fucking exploded. So I expected it to be soft, as Ice-cream that is usually in that freezer is. But it's still as hard as parallel worlds.

The freezer part of a fridge goes on defrost often (cause humidity gets in whenever you open the door) and keeps food at around 25 or so (rough guess, -4°C in my book), whereas a chest freezer (ones that open from the top) don't have defrosting capabilities (which negates the jump in temperatures that cause freezer burn) and is kept around -18°C.

In my experience, chest freezers equal major freezer burn on everything. The giant freezer where I work is a delicate machine. If one thing goes wrong everthing in the freezer gets freezer burn. There are very few ways to avoid it.
