Default I need to know something about modding....

For someone who doesn't know a thing about modding things, would I be better off just getting the Magic Keys and SwapMagic, or a solderless modchip?

Swapmagic is a very good solution if you don't want to do the soldering/get someone to do it for you. Compatibility is very good, and you will be able to play close to all PS2 games released with no problems. It is however easier to have a soldered modchip (no need to swap discs) and compatibility is slightly better with the top-of-the-line modchips like Matrix Infinity and DMS4. Don't worry though, Swapmagics will render you able to run close to ALL burned and imported games with no trouble.

So yeah, SwapMagic isn't a bad alternative to a modchip

Alright, good. No one I know can solder, and I this looks like an easier and cheaper alternative.

Thats the same thing i was thinking. I didn't want to do the modding myself because it would be my 1st time and I didn't want to break anything.Looks like wires has to be cut too.I'm sure it's easy but I didn't want to take the risk. Swap magic works fine but I don't think you could play dual layer games with it.

Dual layer games won't boot with Swap Magic. You'll have to download the ripped version available on the net, those will fit on regular DVD5 and will run smoothly, either that or you can rip the games yourself, which is not really recommended unless you know what you are doing.

I can contest for Swap Magic v3.6. It is definately worth the bux. I am gonna recommend the seller below. b/c he's the cheapest I have found. Swap Magic is 25 bux (US) and Magic Keys 2 is only 6 bux (US) and when I bought mine he threw in a magic switch set for free! (basically a back up for the magic keys set but slighty cheaper in quality, Plastic pieces) hey it was free for me.

he also offers free shipping (2-4 days) and this combo pack (which I bought) with SM Discks v3.6 and Magic Keys together in a set for only 29 bux (us) (link for this is below)
