I haven't listened to the Timbo CD yet but I am willing to. I never used to like him as a producer, as I thought his beats were "crusty". But you learn to appreciate different kinds of music, and I think hip-hop is one way to do that (beats lead to Trance music > Techno > etc), though, rappers themselves grew up listening to Beatles and Jazz. So, it's kinda vice versa, since rap pretty much samples everything. As long as you keep making your music, rap will always exist. It's been done so many times with the help of Kanye West and Rick Rubin.
