Interesting chapter. Sasuke said he's gathering a group for the goal he had when he first went to Orochimaru. That'd be to take out Itachi. But does he really need that many people? Something tells me there's more to it.

I think Sasuke just doesn't wanna be disturbed while he's fighting Itachi and thats why gathering a group so they can take on any obstructions or intrusions coming in between the both Uchiha. Kinda like any Akatsuki member's intervening or something, although on second thought I think Akatsuki member's would be more than happy to let it happen just so only the ELITEST OF THE ELITE people survive in the Akatsuki, aka this being a test for Itachi and to see if he still "got it" to remain a member of the Akatsuki. The leader of Akatuki might even think of making Sasuke a member of Akatsuki once he has taken care of Itachi and "proven himself" worthy enough, etc, etc....

I think Sasuke might even end up joining Akatsuki after killing Itachi just to get a "goal" in his life or somethin in those lines

I don't think he meant Sakura. When he first left Konoha to train with Orochimaru, Sakura begged to even go with him, but he rejected. And I doubt Orochimaru would have wanted to waste his time training her. If he meant he could have recruited Sakura at this point in the manga, that's still pretty doubtful also.

Indeed. I think that water guy is meant to hold off/battle Kisame while Sasuke handles his business. The question is, who does he then need Karin and this other new, some what crazy, fellow? Juugo, I think.

I think they might be just to increase his numbers and strength, though to be perfectly honest after seeing Sauske take out Orochimaru I don't know why he needs anyone (though I suppose Itachi beat him as well so I can't say anything really) but after all the trouble Orochimaru gave everyone and he just beat him soo badly it just shows that the sharingan users are tough bastards

Yeah. I do kind of wonder how an Orochimaru vs Itachi fight would have gone had it been Oro when he fought Sarutobi. You know, he could have used that reviving summoning jutsu on Itachi. Unless Itachi simply paralyzes him from the start.
