Default Final Fantasy X Spere Grid problem

hey guys a few days ago i thought if you cant buy Final Fantasy XII then play FFX again and so i did
but this time i didnt moved on the sphere grid with tidus please dont ask why
so after playing the game a few 30 hour my charas got stronger exept tidus
but dont forget i said i didnt moved on the spere grid with tidus but i trained him a little bit so he can move 40 times
and now i began to wonder how he got so much levelups (waka wich i used in every fight got 71)
is it possible that a character which doesnt move on the spere grid needs less AP to gain a level?

hope you understand my question and are able to help me out thx

Okay, I've rephrased your question to what I can make it out to be...

    No

    Infact, it's quite the opposite.
When fighting a boss (or anytime huge amounts of AP is at hand), try to get everyone involved. This may mean just switching characters and pressing /_\ - just to have them [defend]. Once you do that, you can then change them back when you get the chance and fight as you intended to.

Certain weapons carry [Double/Triple AP]. These abilities only apply to the members in your party when the enemy is defeated; if Kimahri had Triple AP slot in his weapon, defended, yet wasn't in your party of 3 when you killed the enemy, the effect will not take place (he would gain the regular amount of AP).

AP in FFX is like EXP in any other game - the more levels you gain, the greater the amount of experience points needed to LvUp further.

However, you could be just a good player and doing decent damage. OVERKILLs happen when the final blow takes away a certain amount of HP from an enemy. The damage needed for overkills varies with different enemies (the more powerful the enemy, the more you'll probably need to deliver 5-digits).
When an overkill occurs, around 50% more AP is gained. This may be what you're doing.

I hope you are able to understand my answer and I helped out.
If not, please let it be known.

By the way, if you junction Triple AP, Triple Overdive (set overdrive mode to [Victor] and have them in the finishing party) and Overdrive -> AP abilities on your weapon respectively, then watch and see what happens when you get an overkill...

wow thx for the detaild description and these good tips
but you mean that a chara which moves on the spere grid everytime he gains a level needs the same amount of ap to level up as a chara which doesent move even once on the shere grig
i mean tidus has level 10 (sphere level or how you call it i have the pal german version) he can move with this stat 10 times
    and now to my thesis

    - tidus1 makes 10 steps on the grid and now needs to reach lv.11 2000 ap

    - tidus2 doesnt make a step and is still at the beginning but still have lv.10 and therefor needs just 1800 ap to reach lv.11

puh thx again for your tips and hope you understand my question this time or i understand your answer good luck

I mean, Tidus has S.lvl 10 - he can move 10 spaces. And now, my thesis:

    - Tidus1 makes 10 steps on the grid and now needs to reach lv.11. That will mean 2000 AP.

    - Tidus2 does not make a step and is still at the beginning but still has a S.lvl of 10 and therefore needs just 1800 ap to reach lv.11.
I would assume Tidus1 is correct.

I have not been able to confirm your Tidus2 theory, but I imagine if that were correct, then the game would get ridiculously easier as you progressed. And I'm sure Square did not intend to do that.

You know there's an in-game tutorial, don't you? Try accessing the menu on the field screen, and looking up your desired term.

PS The best guarantee for an overkill is to have Yuna summon an Aeon, then use its [overdrive]. It would be wise to use Boost so the gauge fills up quicker and you're ready for the next major battle. Don't push your luck, though, because you are more suspectable to damage while doing this and the Aeon will be KO'd, losing your work. Try doing this near a Save Sphere, also.
Note that Yuna's Grand Summon overdrive allows you to use an Aeon's overdrive 2 consecutive times.
Entrust ability can also be a life-saver.

Rikku, Kimahri, Yuna and Wakka's best weapons come with DOUBLE AP abilities once fully powered. You'll need to perform different tasks as well as obtain the corresponding items (crest, sigil and the Celestial Mirror) in order to recieve them, though. When you gain someone's legendary weapon at first, it bears only one ability: No AP. Getting these weapons powered up will not only boost your team's power accordingly, but also allow your Aeon's to do 5 digits worth of damage and concieve 5-figure HP. [I've put the names of the Aeons that will be affected]

And yes, you will be needing the Airship.

EVERYONE'S CELESTIAL WEAPON COMES WITH ABILITIES BREAK DAMAGE LIMIT AND TRIPLE OVERDRIVE.

Yuna: Nirvana - Double AP, One MP Cost [Valefor]
Rikku: Godhand - Double AP, Gillionaire
Kimahri : Spirit Lance - Double AP, Evade & Counter [Ixion]
Lulu: Onion Knight - Magic Booster, One MP Cost (it's possible to use 2 very high-powered Ultima for just 4 MP. Use Doublecast) [Shiva]
Tidus: Caladbolg - Evade & Counter, Magic Counter
Wakka: World Champion - Double AP, Evade & Counter [Ifrit]
Auron: Masamune - First Strike, Counter Attack [Yojimbo]

For customizing AP to your weapons:

    Wings to Discovery*
Usage- 30 for Break HP Limit in armor
    - 50 for Triple AP in weapon
    Steal- N/A
    S. Rare- N/A
    Drop- Shinryu (Monster Arena)
    D. Rare- N/A
Bribe- Marlboro (Calm Lands, Cavern of the Stolen Fayth)
    - Great Marlboro (Inside Sin, Omega Ruins)
    * 30 for geting 3 chests at chocobo racing

    Door to Tomorrow*
Usage- 10 for Overdrive -> AP in weapon
    Steal- Ultima Weapon (Omega Ruins)
    S. Rare- N/A
    Drop- Bomb King (Monster Arena)
    D. Rare- N/A
Bribe- Mech Scouter (Calm Lands, Valley Bottom)
    - Mech Leader (Mt. Gagazet)
    * 99 for catching 6 areas

I can't remember where to get Double AP, but your best bet is to power up and fight creations at the Calm Lands Monster Arena, namely; Thu'ban, Neslug, Ultima Buster.

A tip for everyone's "legendary Armour" is to have Break HP Limit, Break MP Limit, Ribbon, and an extra slot spare (if you one for Rikku, you might want to add Master Thief ability).

I doubt writing the half the story would be appropriate right now, so I'm referring you to the relevent guides:

Ultimate Weapons - What you need to know
Monster Arena Bestiary - How to fight them
Bribe FAQ - Useful for getting the rarer items in the game. If you have equipment you don't use, sell them to raise cash.

If you select 'Customise' on the field menu, it will be possible to see the abilities which are open to you.

If you need to know anything else, just say.

Not really. You'll be doing 99999 damage even without filling out the entire sphere grid. The overdrive->AP and triple OD weapons are mostly for people who want a lot/all of the sphere grid. It's entirely possible to complete the game 100% without them.

    To make more money:

    1. Fight high level monsters.
    2. Get decent equipment and upgrade it using monster drops (or just sell the monster drops)
    3. ????
    4. Profit.

    No. It is not necessary.

Celestial Weapons are obtained by completing tasks, some requiring more skill than others. For example, Lulu's weapon is acquired from a chest only available upon beating a boss monster (may be worth training up because I died the first time), while Tidus' is gained by chocobo racing.

Crests are pretty easy as you're sure to find them as you play through the game. As for the Sigils, alot of patience is required.

You only need to charge the weapon with the corresponding CREST to allow your aeons Break Damage/HP/MP Limit. But if you hope to get the most out of the game and your party, you are going to need the sigils.

and how can i make more money
    1. Sell equipment. I gave you the guide to the Calm Lands Monster Arena earlier. Prices to fight them can be pretty high. But once you beat them, you can sell the item gained for atleast 5 times the profit.

    2. Mimics. There is a secret area called Omega Dungeon, accessed by [Search] on the airship menu (I just kept tapping X all around the map until I found stuff). This is the hardest field in the game.
Sometimes, treasure chests will appear in battle here, like the Moonflow. But when you attempt to steal, they explode, turning into Mimics. Their stats vary - you will get used to it because they tend to look different.
When you beat these, you are awarded with 50000 gil - another reason to get Rikku's weapon, since it will be doubled to 100000.

    3. [Pilfer Gil] / [Nab Gil] ability. Normally learned by Rikku, if you really think every little helps. Try using it on more powerful enemies.

You will probably need loads of cash for Yojimbo.

Tip: Mimics can be tough if you are not strong enough. If you do not wish to fight one, use [Mug] rather than [Steal] on the treasure chests - you'll kill the chest as well as gain the item inside.

That depends on the enemy you're fighting. I've Clear Sphere'd a lot of sphere attributes in order to get high stats. Although Celestial weapons will make it shorter work, if that's what you mean.

    Yes, that's what I meant.

Since he was planning to get the celestial weapons anyway, he'll probably have pretty strong characters by the time he gets them. And since those weapons make the characters even stronger high SG completion is pointless since there's a limit on how much damage you can do and how much HP you can have.

One possible way is to save, then start a blitzball game. Reset the team stats then check the "prizes" area. Repeat. and if by ~20 tries the jupiter sigil and/or auochs reels don't show up, you need more battles.

There's no real counter. About the only way to be sure is to estimate how many battles wakka's been in, then probably do some levelling with him in your main party.

If there are any quests or dungeons you don't have completed yet, swap wakka into your main party and try to keep him there (if you have at least 2 other CW's, it shouldn't matter regardless of how weak your wakka is), then when you've finished, save, and try the reset to check prizes strategy.

Also, don't save after doing the reset to test prizes strategy, unless you want your super skilled blitz team to go down the drain.

since you need max stats to beat dark aeons i thought of using yojinbos zanmato to defeat them

yesterday i fought against dark ifrit but since i had no chance to win i thought "f*** i need yojinbo senseis help" and so i normal summoned him, gave him all my money (1.400.000 gil), he showed dark ifrit his zanmato and i won

but does someone know how many gil i have to pay for zanmato or is it just luck

    thx in advance
