Apparently, the world is 5000 years old. And dinosaurs? Pah!

Does anybody know that website where you can talk to god?

Personally almost all of the Christians I know fit into the soft category. The only hard ones are jerks who look down on everyone else.

Fortunately they are harder to come by due to the fact that I hang out with people who will likely "fry in the depths of hell for all eternity" and they fear the sin will rub off or something.
Well I guess religion is a very big deal around here. I can't count on one hand how many times I offend people with my "radical" views in one day. I actually think I am fairly conservative too.

Don't forget that the whole human race is inbred. God is here, and he is Ray.

Yeah. That guy killed himself because of self-righteous people such as that, who slam the Bible in the face of things they don't understand or agree with.

The fact, at least as it appears to me, is that the dude was very much in tune with God, which is why he struggled daily with what he was led to believe is an affliction through teachings of the Bible. If he was more in tune with his sexuality, then he wouldn't have cared what the Bible and his fellow Christians thought about him, now would he? He struggled to reconsile his "fleshly desires" with his faith, and suffered because of it.

I'm appalled by what he essentially said at the end too. "I'm sure you can't understand because you're not as pious as I am, but what I'm saying is the truth because I love God and you don't even believe he exists." Yet another implication by these self-absorbed Bible beaters that what they say is truth, and that anyone not buying into their beliefs is somehow made worthless for it.

I'll let you in on a little secret. The Bible is open for interpretation. Wildly so. As such, each of us can take our own truths from it. It doesn't mean that anyone is any more right than anyone else, just that they've interpreted the material differently. The only thing that I think has any importance is the ideals of love and respect that the Bible teaches, something that had this guy got instead of meeting with redicule from his fellow Christians, might have saved his life.

The more I hear from these people, the more I pity them. I'll pray for them.

That's me in a nutshell. A "soft" Christian. I believe, but I also believe that you have to make your own choices. That you have to live your life as best you can and not be such a fucking prick about things, out of fear that not following the Bible to the letter is going to fuck you over.

Yeah. At some point you have to either accept that the bible is wrong about some things while right about others or simply shut your eyes, stick your fingers in your ears and just yell jibberish to drown out the sound of science.

    Go nuts

Pretty much the opposite here. I'd say perhaps 1/3 of the people are straight atheists, most of the rest are "non practicing" religious people (the sort of little to no church, few or no prayers, but they are "believers" kinda people). Of the practicing religious folks only a pretty small percentage are assholes about it.

I've rarely offended anyone, and the few times were normally due to the whole "unclean! Repent! Join my religion!" stuff. In which case I just try to offend them so they'll leave me the hell alone.

Also, what cyber said meets with massive agreement from me.

You shouldn't make a point of following the Bible at all unless you're reading the original texts in Hebrew or whatever.

Bah, I'm pretty sure that even the most devout Christians succumb to their evil fleshly desires such as 'hunger' and 'thrist' and similar sometimes.

So I got a job offer today to work for some advertising firm. I don't know shit about advertising, aside from that most ads on television these days make me feel psychotic rage, but hey, if they're willing to give me a job, I'll take it.

Hopefully it works out, and the pay is good.

That does make sense, as there are bound to be translation errors. Also, another post filled with ignorance followed by a smack down of Biblical proportions.

I don't know what this person's situation was, but it doesn't sound to me like he was going about things in a biblical manner. Like I said before, he can "strive" for this or that, and he can talk to as many people as he wants to, but all that is just carnal works. The only thing that would have saved him was for him to turn it all over to Jesus Christ. Deliverance from our bondage comes through submission to Christ. He was obviously not "devout" in his faith because true faith produces substance. His works produced despair.

Advertising can't be all that hard, and seems like something you could easily turn into fun times.

I suppose we'll see. This is a preliminary interview, and I'm going to take the opportunity to see what they have to offer, just as they're going to see what I have to offer them. If it's something I'll be interested in, then I'll take it. That is, as long as they're happy with what I have to offer.
