70 bucks? It's been out there for a long time now, though, hasn't it? =/ That's not much cheaper than it'll be here new. x_X

And buying games...? On a site dedicated to the piracy of games? Disgrace! More seriously, though, I actually buy games too. I just always download them first to see if I like them. ^_~ I own most of the ones that I really like.

I need to play Final Fantasy XII too, though. I finished it in Japanese...but a fair bit of it went over my head. Political jargon is...not really my strong point in Japanese...
Yeah, gaming is seriously overpriced here, Wii is sold in 450 bucks, and PS3 on 1250, so...go figure.

Well, I used to play backups ( ) before, but I don't like to pirate current gen games (which, as for now doesn't apply anymore, but you get the point. ) If I had Swap Magic and that stuff I would do the same, but I better rent them and see if they're good.

You mean you always get a completely reliable product? If so, I beg to differ. =P The second disc of the copy of Parasite Eve II that I bought from a store here was in French. Which might not have been so bad, as I probably could've coped with the French, but a save from the English first CD wouldn't work with the French second one. I never did finish that game as a result...

There was also my store-bought copy of Neverwinter Nights...which refused to recognise the CD keys that it came with, and forced me to use a keygen. And my older brother's copy of Quake III that always halted halfway through installation.

Suffice to say I haven't had the best time with store-bought games. Maybe it's bad karma for all of the stuff I've pirated.

    Ed @

The only game I have bought and felt ripped off was Resident Evil : Code Veronica... It felt like it was inferior to RE 2 in gameplay, and the only good thing is that I could use Chris.

Other than that, I haven't had any bad experience with the games I have bought.

By the way, 23rd is the UK release. HMV, I was in.
Ahh. Could be worse, I suppose. I still remember the epic delays that we had to endure for some PSX-era games.

I felt a little bit ripped off by my copy of Tales of Destiny for the PS2. Apparently it hadn't been very well handled by the shipping service, and the disc had come away from the spindle and rattled around inside the case. =( Had a big nasty scratch on it. It still worked okay, but it was a little disheartening. I'll remember and pay for better shipping next time.

I never really bought new games back in high school, though, so I never felt very ripped off even by bad games. I'd borrow the latest titles from friends, and loot the bargain bins in stores looking for obscure RPGs. I still have most of the Playstation RPGs that made it to PAL territories. Except for Suikoden II, which I foolishly, foolishly turned down, not knowing what it was. It goes for like $90 on ebay these days, and it's just about my favourite game ever. ;__; I'll never forgive myself for not buying it when I came across it.

You shouldn't have to pay for better shipping. Companies should work on developing cases that don't let loose thier contents at the slightest nudge. Yeah, you're supposed to be able to get the disk out, and that shouldn't be a struggle, but why is it that there are cases that don't seem to hold the disks at all? Are they underestimating our ability to extracate the product from it's holding cell?

Gosh, prices like that give the UK a run for its money. Though I suppose at least you don't have to put up with horrible release dates and big black borders on your games (though, to be fair, many PAL games nowadays let you choose 60Hz).

I know what you mean about not wanting to pirate current gen stuff. I always try and buy the titles that I don't think will sell very well. Niche RPGs, or slightly 'arty' games like Okami and Ico. But pirating something like the latest Final Fantasy or Metal Gear is...eh... Suffice to say I kind of have a hard time feeling too bad about it. =P

Oh, sorry, I forgot about that. I thought you were facing the prospect of a day at work with a splitting headache. Not that the prospect of simply 'a splitting headache' is really much more enticing. But y'know...

    How are things, anyway?

Hectic. I gotta run now, be back soonish. I'm alright though, thanks for asking.
