Just started playing Resident evil 4, but I can't beat the garrador, as I keep getting killed after running out of the cell, although I start walking after I get away from the doorway. Any tips? I have the semi-auto rifle, the riot gun, and the blacktail.
Like something I've uploaded? Give me rep, then. Don't you just love begging?

It helps if you have something like a regular grenade or a fire grenade. You just need something to stun it, or wait until it rams it's claws into a wall, then high tail it behind him and shoot the parasite from behind.

Resident Evil 4 on the PC, just because.

It's a terrible looking port, featuring absolutely NO lighting effects of any kind whatsoever. It looks considerably worse than the PS2 version, not that the PS2 version was any slouch in the graphics departement. The game just screams half-assed port in that respect.

The gameplay seems to be all there, pretty-much. It still plays well enough to be worth looking at if you don't have a GC or PS2, but just don't go in expecting much in the way of eye-candy, or you're going to be severely disappointed.

Did you crank up every visual option available? If so, and the game still looks as bad as you say, then... . I'm obtaining it at the moment, even though I have the PS2 version. I just want to see if it has any extra's that the PS2/GC versions don't have.

Polo!! Get the game and run it on your ubor PC and give us some screenshots!

    Wait.
I'm waiting for someone to cut his head off.
    No port huh?

    I'll check that out.

I'm currently playing Battlefield 2142. If you want to add me to your list, Galcian is the name. Otherwise playing Oblivion yet again so I can ahve a good character when Shivering Isles comes out.

About RE4... good game and it would be worth it even without spiffy light effects, but I do understand Cyber's concerns, if it has less than the console versions it is a half-assed port.

Heh, I'm still on Battlefield 1942, Iwo Jima. Haven't played it much lately because I figure that I'm gonna wanna do some training in how to fly a plane.

Right now I'm still playing Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice For All, and am also playing Hotel Dusk Room 215 and Bleach DS(pretty good, surprised I didn't try it earlier, am looking forward to the sequel).

There are no options to crank up. At all. Oh, you can increase the resolution, but as far as turning on lighting and whatnot, there is absolutely no options to effect these things available to the gamer. I've read comments regarding the game elsewhere, and even those with beefy hardware report that the game looks plain, with no lighting or special effects (volumetric fog and whatnot...) to be found anywhere.

As far as extras go, it's been confirmed from awhile back that it's a port of the PS2 version in the way of bonus content. I can't see myself playing through to find out, unless of course someone makes a trainer. Maybe then I'll stomach this atrocious version of such a great game, just to power through and see what I get upon completion.

It's a shame they screwed the pooch on the graphics front, as this game should've at least looked as good as the GC version.

That's my train of thought exactly. It should've at least looked like the PS2 version at worst, and more realistically should've been closer in graphical quality to the GC version. Both versions looked great, and while the lighting effects weren't as good in the PS2 version, it trumps the PC version by miles.

EDIT: The game doesn't look bad in still images, but anyone who's played the other versions should be able to tell the difference just the same. If there's a way to make a video, I might do that and upload it to Youtube so you can see it in action, so that y'all can see it running.

^ Use Growler Guncam to record it. My recordings on my Celeron are at full speed with that program. So yeah.

I tried it, but it didn't work all that well. Apparently the game uses some sort of graphics dealy that the program doesn't like, so the resulting video was full of flickering and crap.

I'm about five or six hours into Wild ARMs V. Not so bad, really. It keeps most of the best elements of the fourth game, and throws out a lot of the not so good bits (though it's still stupidly easy, and the battle system is still too easy to abuse). It's also very nice both musically and graphically.

And it's nice and friendly in terms of its use of the Japanese language, featuring full furigana for every kanji. I think it's the first game I've ever played that has done that, but it's a nice idea, and it's allowed me to speed through it without the horrific amount of kanji dictionary referencing that usually accompanies my import RPG playing. =P

I've been playing a lot of Armored Core: Last Raven... BUT ONLINE! Playing against other players is where this game REALLY shines. X-Link Kai is one of the best things out right now.
