Man, are you serious ? I gave it "another look" just coz crusher "convinced me" to and it was a long long time back, and you know I got bored of it coz I had better games to play. Now am thinkin of giving it another shot but may be after I finish FFXII (am in the Garif village right now)
Also, I don't know why, but why DOESN'T it have a "training session" or something so that noobs like me at least know what can be done in this game and what are the possibilities aka possible moves, etc, etc. It expects the person who is playing that game TO KNOW EACH AND EVERYTHING (MOVES AND SHIT) beforehand. Now, I know a true Metal Gear Solid player won't require no training sessions, but its kinda putting me off you know just not knowing what to do and what are the possible ways to play this game. The same thing happened with DBZ Tenkaichi. There were training videos, but can't practice the moves right away without forgetting the moves that I just learned by watching the video....LAME...
At least, in DBZ Tenkaichi 2, they've got it sorted out
I mean seriously guys, don't you think I wanna be "let in on the fun too" ?? Coz you guys and MAJORITY OF EM ALL AROUND THE WORLD are just going crazy over this game (and the future ones) and are enjoying it a lot...I wanna experience it too![]()

It is worth learning how to play. You could always start at the first game or at least the second one. They are cheap as dirt and still great games. And as for the next one, yeah I already bought a PS3 for it. Heres to hoping it doesn't go multi-platform to make me regret that.
Eh, the PS3 isn't worth much at the moment. Wait a while, Gaara. Until it gets a nicer library of games. Especially for Metal Gear Solid 4.![]()

I got a PS3 for a few reasons.
Games
Yes the PS3 has lost some exclusives, but it hasn't lost the ones I want, and some of those it will never lose such as the Gran Turismo series. Final Fantasy XIII isn't going to the Xbox360, nor is Metal Gear Solid 4. If MGS4 does go to the 360 it will be a downgrade as Kojima has stated that he is designing the game to use the PS3 to it's potential.
I have heard some of you guys say wait until more games come out. The way I view it is is that I can enjoy Resistance and Ridge Racer to their fullest right now and then get the new games when they come out. That way I'm not trying to play all the games at once, and I am getting more use from my $600 investment.
Blu-Ray Player
I own a few Blu-Ray movies even though I have an SDTV right now, but even with that the picture is slightly better then regular DVD, and the sound is MUCH better then DVD. My roommate for this summer and next year has informed me that he has an HDTV, so we will definetly be using that.
If Blu-Ray is not predicted to do that well then why does it have nearly full industry support and is currently outselling HD-DVD by a wide margin? The ONLY HD-DVD exclusive studio is Universal.well you can buy it just for the blue ray player function . but then of course..if you've seen the news blue ray is predicted to not do that well compared to that other dvd thing, hd dvd i think? Its more expensive to produce, not as ready, blah blah.

None of which are available now. And depending on how well the system sells, or doesn't sell as the case very well may turn out to be, every one of those games will almost certainly go multi-platform aside from Gran Turismo.Games

The console is being beaten by the Wii in Japan. While that's not to say that the Wii is better or anything, it's telling that Sony hasn't been able to retain their iron-grip on that particular market. Sony products are a way of life there after all, and the Playstation line has been pretty huge both there and abroad, save the PSP that is. The PS3 however, just hasn't built up any momentum since launch, and it's hard to say if it ever will. If the trend continues there and abroad, it would only make sense for delevopers to take their products multi-platform simply to recoup rising development costs.
I do find it odd that you'd suggest that MGS4 would have to be downgraded to run on the 360, given that titles developed for both often perform better on the 360. The differences in overall performance between the two consoles, at least as far as they translate to final products, don't seem to be all that huge really. Aside from that the PS3 versions of quite a few of them seem to have framerate issues, that is. Point is though, that as soon as that's all ironed out, you'll see games looking and performing remarkably similarly between both systems. It's not far-fetched to believe that Konami could bring a totally intact version of MGS4 to the 360 at all.
Personally, two games, one of them basically a 360 game given a new name to fool people who don't know any better, aren't nearly justification enough to spend that much money on a console. And as I said above, none of the games you mentioned are available, nor do they have release dates. Furthermore, again as stated above, if the PS3 doesn't pick up momentum, it's a sure bet that every one of those games save for the Sony owned IPs will be ported to the 360 in order to maximize profits for thier respective developers.I have heard some of you guys say wait until more games come out. And hey, maybe you're content with playing the hell out of two games, waiting ever so patiently for those new ones to eventually be released. Not everyone is, especially when one considers the substantial investment required to do so. One can put the same amount of money elsewhere, and be playing some really great games right now.
So as everyone's said, waiting for those games to actually come out before buying the thing, is at this point, a very sound idea.
Well, while the picture may be slightly better than DVD on a standard-definition TV, the only way to justify that particular aspect of the console depends entirely on whether or not one owns a TV capable of getting the most out of it. A slightly-better-than DVD picture isn't worth it, so you'll have to spring for an HDTV as well. While they aren't expensive these days, if you don't have one going into this, you're going to drop some extra cash on top of the initial purchase of the console in order to make the most of the Blue Ray player.Blu-Ray Player

It's not a big deal if you have the cash, but it's something to consider if Blue-Ray really matters.
Look at this link, which essentially says that it's too close to tell who's winning the format war, but that it would seem that HD-DVD is doing better based on sales of stand-alone players vs Blue-Ray players. It does go on to say that analysts predict that Blue-Ray will become the industry standard due to the amount of content available for players, but analysts say alot of things, and much of it turns out to be completely wrong. Regardless of their future-telling abilities or lack thereof, basically what I'm getting at is that Blue Ray isn't at all outselling HD DVD by any wide margin, if at all. Unless you have sources that are newer than 15 days old, and that paint an entirely different picture. If Blu-Ray is not predicted to do that well then why does it have nearly full industry support and is currently outselling HD-DVD by a wide margin? The ONLY HD-DVD exclusive studio is Universal.
As for exclusives, trotting them out doesn't really mean anything, when one considers UMD. That was widely supported at first, only to see support drop off once it became clear that noone gave a shit about the format. This is something that is in the public's mind, if not that of the studios, who seem to be supporting the format largely because they put alot of faith in Sony's ability to put Blue-Ray players into people's homes through the trojan horse that is the PS3. If sales remain slow, or stagnate altogether, then I wouldn't be suprised to see studios stop releasing content for the format, just like they have with UMD.
As a matter of curiosity, how many of those exlusive studios are owned by Sony?
At any rate, I think that what others have said, still stands. Whether or not the console is immediately worth it to the topic originator is dependant on whether or not there are games available for it now that he can't get elsewhere, and upon whether or not he has a TV to support Blue-Ray to the fullest, if that's even an aspect he cares about. If the answer to even the first question is no, then that's a no-buy in my book.
So yeah dude, I'd pass on the PS3 right now. There's absolutely no reason to own one at this point, unless there's a game or two that caught your eye.![]()
Chances are most of the shmups and fighting games are going onto the PS3 which is my only motivation on actually considering it. But I'm pretty much out on the new gen at least until something good comes out. But otherwise I'm happy with my older systems.
2 is a PS2/XBox game, 1 was the only PSX one. But that's beside the point. You already don't like MGS3, so don't bother with it, a manual won't magically make it better. I have one and frankly I don't care much for the game, the gameplay/controls are just asinine. There are obviously hordes of people that say otherwise, but they're just opinions, they shouldn't affect what you like.
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here
So you can grill food and game at the same time? Great invention if you ask me..
