Don't believe that one bad apple bullshit.

That's the evil in man and not the catholic community.
Considering that the Catholic Church has been actively involved in covering up the abuse and protecting the priests involved (not that they're the only church to do so, just the largest), it is most certainly an evil in the Catholic Community.

I never played the first one. It was before I got into RPG's. The pope had to much influence on me back in the day.

The point that I was trying to make though, was that being associated with Hitler, no matter how loosely, is not something that one can just shrug off. It carries with it a stigma, like it or not. A stigma that may make his statements seem a bit ironic to some. That's it.

Really, I wouldn't raise an ass-cheek to fart on the Pope. That is to say, as a person, I don't care about him. His statements seem silly to me, not based on what club he may have been forced to join back in the day, but because they are extreme comments fashioned to catch the attention of mindless sheep who simply don't know any better. And while his message may have merit, in that we shouldn't be letting children get ahold of violent media, where he fails in that message is in calling the games themselves perverse, rather than trying to rally parents the world over to actually be responsible for filtering what their children are exposed to. He's just a higher profile version of every ignorant political asshat to suggest that it's the games that are the problem, rather than the lack of will on the parents part to do their fucking jobs.

So yeah, Hitler club-member or no, he still comes out of this smelling like shit.
To say that he was a member of Hitler Jugend is, as far as I'm concerned, the same as pointing out that he lived in Germany during world war II, so.. the irony is lost on me.

I agree with everything else though.

Meh, oh well. Not my church. Don't get me wrong if a priest/religious leader tried to hurt my family or friends I'd proudly renounce my faith to beat his ass to a pulp.

If in fact the catholic community is protecting the fathers accused/guilty of such crime, then you can say I disagree with the church on this issue.

I'm not one to protect criminals. Everyone knows that.

Well, Mr. ilovefirearms, since you asked so nicely:
    Exalted violence:
The crucifixion, basically the torture and violent murder of Jesus, is seen as the pivotal moment in Christianity. It is, essentially, the birth of the religon. This event is poetized, discussed, read aloud, and even rein-fucking-acted by Christians all over the world, and the symbol of Christ dead on his cross is the single unifying symbol of the religon. Also, Catholic saint-hood is filled with martyrs abound, and the act of dying painfully for your imaginary friend is seen as the absolute best way to go to meet him. ALSO, the Crusades. ALSO, the Inqusition. ALSO, the witchhunts and burning of pagans and nonbelievers for centuries.
I think we got exalted violence covered pretty well, ne?
Antisocial behavior. This is actually the hardest of the three to show examples of. Isn't the church itself a social circle unto itself? Well, it is, but it's still not society at large, which the church regularly shuns in favor of it's teachings. While all the other kids are having sex, doing drugs, and living life, you sit home alone and read from the bible. Not to mention the Catholic church's interest in politics, which are sure to get your ass reverse-shunned by the community. I dare you to tell people in the general public you don't believe in handing out condoms in Africa. See how the average "man on the street" would react to that.
Having all your friends be the same religon as you, going to a school based entirely around your religon, joining groups for no other reason than your religon, voting certain ways for no other reason than your religon.... A very socially minded lifestyle.
Finally, and by FAR the easiest, is the trivialization of human sexuality.
Really. Do I have to say anything about Catholism and sex? I mean, I CAN explain this if you'd like, but really, it's pretty goddamn (tee hee) obvious.
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

Wow, you really like to put things delicately don't you? There was no reason to be such an ass about that. You should be more respectful of others religions. Just because you don't believe in Jesus doesn't mean you have the right to call him someone else’s imaginary friend. It is rude and uncalled for. Please, for the sake of not starting fights over religion, be respectful of others beliefs.

Why do I sound like a moderator all of the sudden.

I actually do believe. I'm just extremely disrespectful of organized religon.
Also, it's 2 in the morning and I'm too tired to be tactful.

You’re a Christian? I hope you mean that you believe in some other religion because I don't think that Jesus would appreciate you calling him make believe. Also, because you do "believe", I am sure you know how annoying it is when someone makes ignorant remarks about what you do believe in.

Just for the record, I am not a Christian. I am still undecided as to the whole religion thing and what I believe. So please, no one call me "The Great Bible Defender" or anything like that.
