Well... I actually quit listening to it since I only like the first track. And even then, I only liked the parts with that fast guitar rythm I guess I spoke too soon

I think I listened to it a little bit. God damn it was generic.

Speaking of melodic death, the guitarist from The Absence frequents the MetalTabs forum which I post at. And now he wants to throw a little contest for some prizes for whoever tabs any of their songs most accurately...

Goddammit, I've heard Sacrifice Unto Sebek so many times you wouldn't believe it. I actually think I've heard it so much I'm starting to dislike it Never mind, hearing it now. Awesomeness!

I'm still counting down to the new Wintersun, Kalmah, Disillusion, and fuckin Zyklon!

Heh, just found out one of my favorite bands (Zao) is gonna be touring with In Flames and Devil Driver. I'm gonna assume they're not calling themselves a "Christian" band anymore. All the better, I suppose.

Hate Eternal with Krisiun and Incantation, 3 shitty metalcore/"death metal" bands opening.
Obituary with Napalm Death, openers: crappy metalcore bands.
Suffocation/Cryptopsy/Vader/Aborted/Decapitated, openers: Dew-Scented and an uberly shitty metalcore band with two vocalists.

I was going to see Immolation/Deicide and Morbid Angel/Soulfly, but couldn't go. Oh well, at least I'm catching Morbid with Krisiun and Behemoth again, and I'll just have to wait for Deicide and Immo'.
By the way, speaking of that Decapitated show, the whole thing is going on DVD as a bonus for the new album in a digipack version! You'll see my ass in that video! Though I don't like "Organic Hallucinosis" that much yet, I might just get it to see myself on the DVD.

I agree with you on Kreator, but you didn't like Sodom's "Augesbomb"?(sorry for the spelling, Ich nicht bin Deutsche, leck mein arsch und fick dein mutter.). Well w/e to each his own, but Sodom can do no wrong in my eyes. Kreator fucked up bad but they're at least trying to repair it with the last 2 albums. As 2 albums alone, they're quite decent, but I understand how oldschool fans expect something very different from Kreator. As I do from Megadeth, the last one was better but it's still no "Rust in Peace".

Sometimes bands just set standards too high at the beginning, then if the dare pull some shit that isn't as good everyone will think they suck...

You at a SJR and Sepultura show? Blasphemy. To be honest I don't know shit about Sepultura nor anything they did after Max Cavalera left, and just recently I'm getting into Morbid Visions, I have and love all the "inbetween" albums. There's lots of gaps that I need to cover in the vast kingdom of oldschool death and thrash metal.

You know what I would've killed to see? The Pantera/Morbid Angel world tour from about 4 years ago, when they were still together and Erik Rutan was still in MA. In fact Rutan was invited to play "Walk" with them on one set, he commented about it at Hate Eternal's site when Dimebag died... Phil Anselmo also did the guest vocals for Morbid Angel's "Day of Suffering" on that tour, I have a video of that, was pretty cool.

Edit: I personally don't like change either, especially when a band starts off so well... but a band like Morbid Angel is an exception. No 2 albums sound alike, that's what I love about them, and hence I love all of their albums except for Domination because of its poor inspiration and Vincent's half-assed vocal performance on it.

Immortal started out with the rest of the "true Norsk BM scene" on the first 3 albums, then they started to slowly develop their own unique sound, so much that I honestly can't call them "black metal" or "death metal". "Battles in the North" and everything that followed is very different from black metal. The riffwork is very tight, but still sounds incredibly raw and thrashy(I think you'll really like "AtHoW" and "Damned in Black"). It's like slightly sloppy but extremely focused and articulate. It's raw but with good production, and they don't sound like they're wasted when recording the album.

I love all the songs on "Endless Pain", but honestly, do you like listening to the album? I'm much happier with listening to those songs on a live recording. I'm not one to whine about sloppiness, after all I'm a political grindcore junkie, but "Endless Pain" is way to sloppy for me to give a good honest listen. By the way do you know that the reason Sodom got signed to a label was because some record label guy saw their show and said: "These guys are so bad, they deserve to be on a record!" And "Persectution Mania" wasn't sloppy... in fact I thought it was pretty tight.
LOL YOU'VE SEEN PRO-PAIN AND DEW-SCENTED LIVE!!! Hahaha. Oh man you must've been tortured for quite a while. The Full Blown Chaos (the dudes who opened up for SJR and Sepultura) were like a hardcore band, also with 2 vocalists but they weren't that bad. I didn't really mind them.

Post-Max Cavalera Sepultura is awful. The band is like a groove/hardcore band. But seeing them live is still awesome. They're not really Sepultura anymore, they're just a band that play awesome Sepultura covers. Don't bother checking out any of their material after Arise. Well I like Chaos A.D. even though they sold out with it and went groove but seriously, Roots is godawful. Fucking shitty nu-metal + tribal drums.

And yes I love listening to the Endless Pain album. I don't dont understand your beef with it.

    lol Mille is hilarious.

I know Persecution Mania was tight but I was referring to their previous work. In The Sign Of Evil and Obsessed By Cruelty... 2 of the most amazing albums ever. When I was asking for old school black metal reccommendations this dude reccommended me In The Sign Of Evil. For the next week I was listening to Outbreak Of Evil nonfuckingstop. Every single day for at least an hour. I was blown away by it. The remake of it on Persecution Mania is pretty good but I still prefer the original. And yes I know about that record deal story...

    Go to ****.org.
Search '666 metal' then get the torrent '666 Metal Ringtones'.
It's the coolest thing ever! There's Slayer, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Carcass, Children of Bodom, Pantera, Megadeth, Nightwish, Stratovarius, Sepultura, Mercyful Hate, Helloween and alot more bands, of ringtones! The Slayer ones are pretty funny to listen, wel, they all are. I can't get enough of em!
My favourite midis are Mother Russia by Iron Maiden (funny stuff), Angel of Death, and Children of Decadence by CoB
Oh, and Symphony of Destruction is pretty fucking fun too

The best thing about it is, there's exactly 666 midi whole songs, and the torrent is only 34 MB And they play EXACTLY like the original songs. it's like nintendo-ized metal.

The new Decapitated is pretty good. I've only heard about half the cd, but I don't like it as much as Winds of Creation.

Speaking of music... This is one of my most embarrassing secrets... Look at how much fucking music I have here...and this is only about one third of my cd collection

Anyone else heard the new Darkthrone-single? I heard it on the radio a while ago, it was badass, sounds like they are changing style into something that sounds like Darkthrone + Motrhead-esque riffs mixed.

Cool. I love playing thrashers like "Flag of Hate" and "Nuclear Winter" on guitar. Simple stuff, but playing it makes it so damned fun. Now that I have a whammy bar to fuck with I'll try learning to do some whammed out solos, I thought making cool sounds with it would be easier. I can do the Dimebag harmonic thing, but it's the other stuff that I have no clue how to do.

Yeah, broken English + thrash = hilarious. I still can't stop laughing when I hear Cavalera pronouncing "Mass Hypnosis" as "Mas hippinosssis". Have you seen the 1992 Sepultura DVD Live in Barcelona? That's a really cool performance...

I set up my guitar perfectly today, btw, got all the parts I needed and put the 2 extra strings I was missing. Setting up floyds is not nearly as hard as I thought it'd be.

Darkthrone... with Motorhead sounds? This must rule. I think I'll check it out despite not really liking Darkthrone.

Here are some pics of my set-up guitar:

When I go back to England a friend has offered to take me up to Leeds to a place with good deals on music and a large selection. (possibly 10 or less per album) I can see myself getting a lot if I got about 200 together. I will be getting the rest of the Opeth Albums I haven't got, I am tempted (after a listen to black metal radio) to get some stuff from Emperor, Immortal, Arcturus, possibly Burzum(though I hear there is a bit of controversy with the guy that is in this band) definatly Borknagar (somehow they get me with their songs ) I might get some Cradle of filth to iritate the hardcore metalheads here . Other then that, I would like to ask any one here for some recommedations please

So instead of ripping off pseudo-Celtic Frost riffs they're doing pseudo-Motorhead now? Shit. Doesn't sound promising at all. So instead of doing 10 minute long songs, raw as hell that you can barely make anything out, with pseudo-thrash riffs, they're gonna do the same except with drunked speed metal riffs instead?

If you actually wanna hear GOOD black/speed metal check out Bulldozer. Along with Necrodeath, these guys spearheaded the extreme metal gathering in Italy. Hellhammer was another great black/speed metal band. Early Sodom, well you already know that. Sabbat from Japan... these legendary black/speeders have been busting it out since the 80's and have released like more than 40 albums lol...
