There's like 5 threads on Kerrazys that are talking about it.
M-A is more informative for any given band than that band has on its own official website

This isn't anything new. Usually metal archives is down at least once a week lol. They always are having server problems and sometimes he doesn't pay the bill on time so the site is taken down for maybe a day or too. I'm registered as Skullhammer over there.

M-A is a decent site but because most of the information put up there is by just random users it's not necessarily true. Like Hellhammer for instance. They never had a rehearsal demo in 1982. That's bullshit but unless I e-mail Tom Warrior or go on the Celtic Frost message board and ask him about it and he'll reply proving it never existed, I don't have the proof to tell M-A that it never existed. Death Fiend wasn't a real demo either. If I remember correctly the Triumph of Death demo was originally supposed to be called Death Fiend and they already made the artwork for it. Their roadie got a hold of the artwork and made bootleg copies of this supposed demo which were just a couple of tracks from Triumph of Death.

Bunch of shit like that. Some of the moderators there are complete assholes too. I remember one time I wrote a very negative review of the Megiddo/Rampage Split Tribute To Hellhammer album giving it a 0 and bashing it in every way possible. In the end I receive an email from a mod from M-A saying something like "fuck you and fuck your stupid review. say goodbye to all your points" and yep erased all the points I had. I was so pissed off. What an elitist man. Different people have different opinions. I didn't like the album and gave my honest opinion in a review.

Other than that, yes M-A is a very nice site to find out the basic information on just about any metal band in the world...

I'm not signed up there, but I thought about it awhile ago. I might within the next few months though. The mods seem fucking dumb there too. But still, fucking awesome website. You don't ever have to go on any band's offical site when you have M-A

Wow... well I sure as hell wont write another review for that site again.

Here are some YSI'ed videos of me playing some shizzle. Lots of mistakes and shit, I usually play better than on these videos but w/e. Also the tuning is in B, so some of the songs might not sound like their real counterparts(they're the same thing but in a lower pitch):

    Some Amon Amarth: http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...J2YUVKXYHIBLS5

    Some Bathory:
    http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0...22OTZM0BEWWBOW

    Some Behemoth: http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...J152Z0MTSX79WZ

Some random sloppy brutal death metal riffs(Wormed, Decrepit Birth): http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0...V1P3UJA5SFBYD0

    Some Death:

    Some sloppy-ass Decapitated: http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...J1GNGYICJBLDS9

    Some Megadeth: http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...E0QGZM4H1XKV5Y

    and lastly, some Nile: http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...V2DHL00U18T7RO

Some awesome shit there, Soeru. I especially liked the Amon Amarth recordings. Your Kelly doesn't sound bad at all. How come you're unhappy with it?

Sorry to intrude your guitar talk... but In Flames's new album is WOOOOOOOO-AWESOME! Even alot of people on Kerrazy like it, since it's not as 'mainstream' as the last two (even though I love those). My account on Kerrazy is dummy_head3 btw

Well the pickups aren't as clear as I wish they'd be, slightly muddy. Of course at first I had no idea that they sounded "bad". Once you play different guitars through the same amp you start to realize the difference in sound. But the rest of the guitar is fabulous. Most guitars under $400 eventually deserve a pickup change.

I just recently learned "Lashed to the Slave Stick", so I simply had to play it on that video. I should've played some more Decapitated riffs, I know a few from "Names".

    Thank yallz for the comments.

I just downloaded the new In Flames record... it now awaits my approval.

I've only heard a few minutes of the new In Flames, and it's seems to be much better than their two most recent albums, but it still isn't how I want my In Flames to be. :/

Bah I can't believe you guys like In Flames. One of the shittiest bands ever. First they were gothensuck, stupid ass melodic death metal... generic as hell. And then they sold out to nu-metal. I never heard anything appealing by that band. I did like 2 songs though, Lord Hypnos and Jotun. Other than that they were completely boring and unappealing...

They aren't really that bad. Their first few albums weren't at least. You're giving them too much heat I think. But yeah they did sink really low on the last two albums, so they have it coming.

As for Come Clarity. I haven't listened to it yet, but clips of a few songs. Very much better than Soundtrack and Reroute, it's still not In Flames of olden days, but it's tolerable.

In Flames and Dark Tranquillity were the bands that got me interested in death and black metal. They made death metal more accessible for me before I got into bands like Sepultura, Decapitated, and Deicide.

Gothenburg metal doesn't suck, it's just been exploited so damned much over the past 5 years that everyone has learned to hate it, it's become a big trend now to play melodic DM, too many bands playing the same fuckin riffs.

In Flames were around since the early days of melodic DM, their combination of death metal with melodies was unheard of in 1993. "Lunar Strain" has a sort of black metal vibe to it, their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th albums were good too but then they quickly began to plummet into mediocreness. Let's see what Come Clarity is like.

I've kind of lost my interest in melodic death a bit, just very few bands nowadays get listens from me. Pretty much only Amon Amarth and Insomnium nowadays, without counting BM/DM bands like Dissection, Third Moon, other small lesser known bands etc.

I immediately lost interest in melodic death. I used to be a fan of Dark Tranquility. I even decided to join their street team. But after about a month I got sick and tired of them and every other melodic death band. I still listen to Amon Amarth every now and then but not too often.

Death metal with melodies was heard of in 1993. Atheist and Cynic were 2 technical death metal bands containing a lot of melodies and jazz influence in their death metal music. Carcass also went pretty melodic with their album Heartwork...

You guys are too hard on IF. I'll always love them, but that's me. My fave tracks off the new album are tracks 1, 12, 10, and 5. Especially 12, I love the guitar work on this album
