Default Dreamcast & Fire Pro D questions...

Ok, just *finally* found a selfbooting copy of Fire Pro D. I forgot what type of image it is and I'm at work right now so I can find out at the moment but I have 2 questions pretain to the game and Dreamcast itself...

1)I've been reading that it's possible to add your own music to the game for entrances. I can't find any info as to how. And as it stands, my copy does not play music during the entrances but during the menus it does.

    2) I also have seen updated VMU files with logos, moves, and stuff...is it possible to still hook up the DC to my internet connection and get those files or is the DC so far out by now that I need to use other means to update my VMU?
    Thanks for any info guys

Well, if it's really a self-booting image then it has to be either CDI or NRG format. As for adding your own music I have no idea. Pavlik, a member here, just did a DC game with a new soundtrack so he might know. And there might be a faq here http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/drea...me/580485.html on getting logos n whatnot. I didn't look through them all so check it out.

i believe i have gotten a few self booting images that are ccd also.

    1) the music may have been removed to get the game to fit on a single 700MB disk.

That could be true, although I doubt it as the ripping groups would usually just downsample the tunes.

Most the games that use CDDA can still keep them even after being made into a Selfbootable CD

As for replacing CDDA tracks I wouldn't bother if I was you Whipper specially if you have been waiting for a selfboot version because to replace a CDDA track you also need to recreate the CD Image from all the files from the CD and the CDDA tracks in RAW or Wav format then recreate a selfbootable CD from scratch

there is a nice and easy prog you can burn with tons of VMU saves to CD if connecting to the internet with your DC is not an option

Any selfboot tuto will do it for you but the easy way is to use DC-CDR to create a selfbootable DC game, basicly it's a front end to echelons method and directs you as what to do in the prog (I think it had poor english but it's still easy compared to doing echelons method the original way)

You can get that at http://www.megagames.com/dc/dc_utils_disk.shtml

Ok, it's a .cdi file and from what I've found I need to UNPACK(.exe) it and then add my tracks converted to wav files then run Inject(.exe)...so based on the fact that you guys know more than me, does that sound sane and possible or should I really say f*ck it?

Do you have the echelon rip? That's what I have and all you have to do is click on the icon that says unpack first, and then click on the one that says inject. It'll do all the rest automatically. Then just burn the .CDI image again and see if it works. The sound in mine works fine, so thats probably what it is. It should have music during entrances and during matches.
