One of my favourite DT songs is 'These Walls' from the 2005 cd Octavarium. I also like 'Innocence Faded' and anything from... well, I just love all their albums and songs actually. I can't choose favourites really. They're the only prog band I listen to (besides Disillusion, if they're prog), and I absolutely love them and can't stop listening to them.

    Will check out Andromeda too.

*Pops a boner.* ZOMG PMZORZ ME PLZ!!!11.

Erm, nevermind, I found it already. I don't check KT often.

Guess what's back... my "Band of the week" sig. This time I'll try posting more eye-catching pics so I can get even the non-metalheads to check the bands out. The link is to the video for Powers that Be, the song I'm learning. Maybe next week will be Bathory... but I don't know any sites with a legal mp3 or sample of their material.

Edit: Listening to the new Arsis EP. ZOMFG this is nice. Only listening to the title track right now, it's a 13 minute song composed for a ballet or something, but it's brutal and awesome, assloads of guitar layers and unbelievable musical complexity all over, but still has the brutal grind of their death/thrash metal sound. I don't think they'll be playing this one live unless they shorten it down a little. 13 minutes of fuckin' technical death metal, man! Beutiful... I thought it wasn't going to be this good because of the sample I heard. It's definately %100 pure Arsis, just a slightly different approach at writing this song because it was composed for other purposes.

James Malone's voice sounds even more vicious than on Arsis' debut album.

The Alice Cooper cover is pretty good. The re-recording of the obscure song "Fortunes Envy" has been renamed for "The Promise of Never"... and I think the lyrics and one of the riffs were changed slightly. But the modern production makes it sound better.

I think Arsis is one of those bands that might sound a bit better with dirtier production quality, you know. Grainy production gives some bands this awesome vibe, listen to any modern metalcore album then play like Morbid Angel's "Heretic"(though it wasn't that great) or something and it has way more atmosphere with that grainy production as opposed to some shiny new-age production. I wouldn't go as far as completely unlistenable production like uberly underground black metal bands, but sometimes dropping your tape in a pile of mud might make the music feel better.

A Diamond for Disease gets better with every listen
The first time I was like... meh... But I' on the second time now, and I'm really liking it. I'm sure every listen after this I will like it more too.

I'm not so sure about Arsis sounding better with grainier production.
I'm not a fan of Darkthrone-like produced metal

Not cruel metal Yeah, alot of the metal I like is cruel, but most of it isn't. I don't consider SOAD metal, by the way. Just my opinion.
Haven't heard any Machinehead. I'll look them up to see what genre they play...
