It's incredible just how badly metalcore/hardcore bands have ripped off the Swedish death metal sound. It just makes everything sound so oversaturated and similar. I understand why modern DM fans simply fear "Gothencore" bands, but it doesn't mean that the bands they were ripping off suck...
Hmmm..... lost all my Dismember stuff. Fleshcrawl are quite similar but they aren't from Sweden About 99.9% of metalcore bands rip off Swedish melo-death lol

INHUMAN RAMPAGE - BRAND NEW ALBUM

Following a hugely successful summer and autumn, during which the 18 month campaign in support of their Sonic Firestorm album has seen them wowing festival crowds around Europe before returning to the UK to play yet another sell out tour, London based metallists DRAGONFORCE have just completed work on their eagerly anticipated third album.

Inhuman Rampage contains eight brand new songs and will be released on 9th January 2006. The album recording sessions were made at Thin Ice Studios in Virginia Water (Surrey) and guitarist Herman Li's own studio in West London between April and September, while production duties were shared between Li, fellow axeman Sam Totman and keyboard player Vadim Pruzhanov.

When asked to comment on the new album, Li stated:
“On the new album we have come up with the ultimate formula that has never been done before. Combining intensity, chaos and melody, with all the DragonForce trademarks plus some more. For us, this is the next evolution in DragonForce's sound. I have never heard an album sounding like ‘Inhuman Rampage'....the title says it all! It's seriously gonna blow some heads off around the world next year.”

The full tracklisting of Inhuman Rampage is as follows:-
    1. Through the Fire and Flames
    2. Revolution Deathsquad
    3. Storming the Burning Fields
    4. Operation Ground and Pound
    5. Body Breakdown
    6. Cry for Eternity
    7. The Flame of Youth
    8. Trail of Broken Hearts

The album will be released on CD and picture vinyl, with the CD featuring an enhanced section and other surprise goodies....

    Must check out Fleshcrawl...

I've been listening to Decapitated's "The First Damned" CD quite a bit. It's basically a compilation with their two demos. Mostly old recordings of songs on Winds of Creation but it has a couple of tracks that are pretty unknown to me, like Cemeteral Gardens, awesome and arkwardly melodic... also has some live bonus tracks. That signature Polish DM sound is just so damned awesome...

Also Howie, that recommendation a few days ago about Disillusion's Back to the Times of Splendor... I fucking love it! I'm 99% sure I would have never heard this unless you said it here and I got it. Knowing your taste in metal I knew it would be good, but this is way better than I expected! I do love you.

How come you never choke when I drown you in the sea. Drown you in the sea! DROWN YOU IN THE HOT AND BURNING SEE-EEbabaEE-EEbabaEA!
I still have to listen to the last half of the cd, though...

Oh. Fuck. Another thing. Converge. I know they're really popular and everything, and I always thought that Jane Doe was an overhyped album. But this weekend I finally listened to the whole thing when I never have when I've had it in my posession for like, a year. Fuck, it blew me away. I can now see why they're so awesome! The 6th and last tracks are amazing. The last track is so slow but I was patient hoping it'd get better since they repeated the same thing over and over for like 10 minutes, but by the end my ears and head had orgasms. Get that fucking cd if you haven't already. I must have heard it 5 times in a row before taking it out of my cd player, but after I heard another cd once I put it back in for another few listens. Just, yeah, get it. At least I love it.

Your lucky Slim isn't around, he'd impale you for not liking Converge. I haven't listened to them in a while, but they're one of the very few metalcore bands that I like. I have some live tracks and they are just incredible.

Edit: I have some 1394 albums that I haven't listened to yet. Taake is really good modern BM. Behexen play some of the coldest most raw black metal I've ever heard, extremely good stuff. Naglfar play good melodic BM, and Third Moon and In Slumber(a side project of Third Moon) play extremely nice melodic DM/BM.

Early Behemoth (pre-Satanica albums) = cool BM. Belphegor, Blasphemy, Mayhem, Darkthrone and Vesania are some other nice BM bands that I like, but I'm sure Howie can pwn us all with his list of uberly grim awesome underground bands.

I heard that Crotchduster is coming out with new material soon, also. Haha, can't wait for that.

Anybody heard the new 1349? I'm not huge on BM, but I do like them. The only BM bands I listen to or have albums by are Immortal, Emperor, 1349, Dimmu Borgir, Bathory, Vesania.
Anybody want to recommend me some more BM?

Yeah, haha. I wanted you top read it before you went, so I wouldn't have to wait a long time to get your recommendations. So I made a new post so you'd see it. Silly me. Checking those out, too. Thanks once again.

This band isn't exactly metal, but I did download one of their albums from a metal site... but Porcupine Tree's In Absentia is an awesome album. The first track 'Blackest Eyes' is one of my favourite songs atm, cause it's happy and even has metal-ish guitars in it. I still have to listen to their other stuff, though. Porcupine Tree is considered kind of a pop band, too, from what I heard. They're my favourite pop band then.

Grimfist's new album is also worth a listen.

:O They are? Got a link?

Summoning - Dol Goldur (not typical BM, symphonic stuff)
    Taake - Doedskvad
    Enslaved - Isa
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas

4 albums I happen to enjoy a lot. Been a while since I've listened to Black Metal regularly.

Cemetary's "Phantasma" is pretty neat, Industrial/Electronical Metal stuff.

You are some crazy mofos. Thanks for the recos, and I'm getting alot of those right now. I've never been a huge fan of BM, but lately I've started getting into it, so I'm alot more interested now. I think I'll work on finding some Mayhem, Taake (cause I love that one picture ), Behexen, Raganrok, and Burzum. I've heard a bit by those, so that's why I'll find them first. Thanks, though. I'm getting every single one of those, if I can

Lol, I assume you're going to download the discography on KT that has those 2 live bootlegs? Heh, I have them, just filter out the folders/files you don't want in Azureus or something.

I've been listening to Immortal's ATHOW and Damned in Black a lot recently. I used to have a CD with Blizzard Beasts and Battles in the North on it, but I lost it, along with my Kreator and Vader CDs... Can't wait to get a damned iPod.

By the way... the Immortal full length live video from 2002 I have is the coolest shit I've ever seen...

Got the new Bolt Thrower. Haven't heard anything by them at all before hearing this though. It's pretty good.

edit: Why is this so popular? Bolt Thrower isn't even that great, from what I hear atm. I was expected some crazy shit, but all I'm hearing right now is average metal (and a British guy going 'You are hearing the new Bolt Thrower album, out November whatever', every couple of minutes ).

btw, what if you lose your ipod soeru? You'll be screwed then. Unless you back all of it up somehow... which I wouldn't do, cause I'm fucking lazy. I refuse to buy an ipod, though. They are evil.
