Anybody seen the new Vader video? The video's just a bunch of hgih-tch anumated robots, or humans that are running robots, fighting in a war. The song is awesome though. One of the fasted song they've ever played, if not the fastest, even though I couldn't hear the audio so well.

Yeah I posted about it a while back. The video was dull, but the song was cool. Can't wait for their new album in November, I think it's gonna be better than "The Beast".

If it's better than The Beast then it has to be worth an actual purchase at all costs. We'll see though...

Why hasn't anyone told me Vader rule this much? I got Litany and I'm currently listening to it, and so far I'm fucking impressed. Highly reminiscent of Amon Amarth, which equals more points for Vader. I think I'll go get the discography.

It better be, since "The Beast" was quite a boring album in my opinion.

This thread reminds me of that I need to listen more thoroughly to Nordland I and II.

the beast wasn't boring! it was WAYYYY repetative, though. Like, listen to three songs "Out of the Deep", 'Firebringer" and another one i dont remembet hr name of... its weird how alike they are. its like hearing the same melody a bunch of tiems in a row.

Dude, Litany was what got me hooked to Vader too. Get all of their albums of course, but I really like The Ultimate Incantion, Sothis, Black to the Blind, and their all-cover-songs album Future of the Past(which is so fuckin awesome. They cover Morbid Angel, Possessed, Terrorizer, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Slayer, Anti-Nowhere League, Depeche Mode, and Mayhem on that CD!). Their demo is extremely good too.

I think I've said this before: when listening to Vader, don't expect like extremely brutal DM, or you'll be disappointed. Vader are closer to thrash than most other DM bands hence why they might not sound as brutal, but heaviness isn't everything ya know. Don't get me wrong though, some Vader tracks will smash your head with pummeling speed, but Vader for the most part isn't a "typical" death metal band like Cannibal Corpse or something.

Obituary's "Cause of Death" reminds me of Vader a LOT. Dies Irae has many members of Vader in the band, they sound very similar, but a bit less thrashy and more on the death/black side, very evil shit. Check out the songs "Lion of Knowledge" and "Horde of Angry Demons", pure Polish death metal. And if you like Vader you'll love Decapitated, but I think most people here already listen to them by now. If not, go grab "Nihility" and "Winds of Creation", before I go ballistic on your ass! Can't wait to go see them next month with Vader, Cryptopsy, and Suffo. Joy...

Why would you say that Vader are reminiscent of AA? I don't think they sound like them at all... They do have a lot of tremolo-picked("spaghetti") riffs, more than most DM bands, but that's about all they share in common I think. Speaking of AA, I CAN'T stop listening to Versus the World and Once Sent from a Golden Hall, and The Crusher. Has anyone listened to the Versus the World bonus CD on the re-release? Holy fuck, it has the coolest bonus tracks on it like a German version of "Victorious March" and this awesome oldschool unreleased track: "The Mighty Doors of the Speargod's Hall".

I love AA's lyrics, "Thousand Years of Oppression", "Bastards of a Lying Breed", and "The Sound of Eight Hooves" have some really cool ones.

Got my Bathory longsleeve in the mail today. Nice, a bit fleecy though, and whoever packed it must've been smoking cigars like a chimney.

Kind of off-topic, but how many of you have long hair? Like how long/what kind/etc. Mine extends around the end of my rib-cage/center of my back, pretty long. Very straight, dark brown, br00t3l.

Edit: By boring, I think he means repetetive, which exactly what I think of the songs on The Beast. Vader slowing their music down a notch didn't do them much good, they need to get off their lazy asses and thrash some more. Have you seen this video for "Dark Transmission"? It shows footage of them in the studio recording the album and hanging out, funny as hell, almost as goofy and funny as the footage in Behemoth's DVD. Polacks are naturally funny people.

Your hair is br00t3l, or however you said it.

Mine is a red curly afro with a pet scorpian living somewhere in it... it stings. Not really though.

Speaking of AA, have you heard Sorrow Throughout the nine Worlds? It was their first album, I believe. Anyway, that has some of their best stuff, which surprised the hell out of me, cause I haven't heard it before, when I thought I had their entire discography. Great great stuff, even if it is only about (I think) 25 or 26 min.

Mighy Doors of the Speargod's Hall is from Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds. Track number 4. Seek this album out at all costs! I'm telling you, you will love it.

cause I'm bored I'll list the tracks for the album:

    1.Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds
2.The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter
    3.Burning Creation
4.The Mighty Doors Of The Speargod's Hall
    5.Under The Greyclouded Winter Sky

Actually my favourite cd of theirs along with VTW and The Crusher.

Actually STTNW is not an album, it's a demo that was included on the VTW bonus disc. Along with the unreleased demo "Thor Arise", which is faster than any of AA's other material.

Fate of Norns wasn't bad, but it doesn't match up to their ability, they can do much better. On another forum(the official AA forum if I remember correctly), someone who talked with AA after a show said that the recording of FoN was very cold. He said that Johan said they were all in a shitty mood, very little interaction between the band members, like everyone was in their own little corner doing their thing. But they'll be working on a new album early next year after they're done with their US tour with Children of Bodom and Trivium and another European tour.

Btw, "Across the Rainbow Bridge" is a song that Ted(one of the guitarists) wrote when his grandfather was nearing his death. It's a very nice song, a lot of feeling in it. "Bastards of a Lying Breed" is another track with a "strong" feel.

I didn't realize it was a demo. But whatever, I still like it.

Have you heard the Roadrunner All-Stars cd yet? One of the best comps I've heard ever. Maybe it isn't even considered a comp, cause I think they just recorded it with all the members recently.

Fucking A. Litany gets better the more I listen to it. "Wings", "The Calling" and "Litany" are all first class metal. I can't have enough of this shit.

I've been getting into a lot of the less melodic death metal lately. I rediscovered what a brilliant masterpiece Carcass's Heartwork is and been getting into more technical bands such as Melechesh, Avulsed and Demilich. I've been meaning to check Decapitated recently, and now that you gave me the go sign, I think I'll do just that.

Not much in terms of lyrical content, but the tremolo oriented riffs and drum pounds immediately reminded me of the Norsemen on first listen. Not much, but there's a slight AA sound to their style.

I love AA's lyrics, "Thousand Years of Oppression", "Bastards of a Lying Breed", and "The Sound of Eight Hooves" have some really cool ones.
Fate of Norns, the title track of the latest albums is probably my favourite AA song in terms of lyrics. Pure poetry. Across the Rainbow Bridge is also one of the better written AA songs.

I had mine at around shoulder length, light brown, mildly waved, almost like Hansi's hair in the Imaginations Through the Looking Glass DVD. I'm growing it back now, since I had to cut it for school.

Who here has heard of Iron Maiden? Go METAL!

Anyway... why is Darkthrone so popular? I don't get the whole thing about them. I have Transylsavian Hunger, and I just don't like it. In general, I don't like albums that have incredibly horrible sound quality. I guess it just takes time to like black metal like that, then.

Edit: My favourite album covers (cause I'm bored):
Pandaemonium - Return To Reality (The music isn't the greatest, but highly enjoyable for a while).

Lake of Tears - Neonai. I love the album.
