SO.. does that mean I should burn the MDS file, since thats' the only one that's targeted? It would still work that way, even though the file is tiny?

Its been a while since I burned anything, but provided you have the mds file in the same folder as the mdf file you should be able to burn the mdf file.

I made a guide for alcohol and polobunny made a better one and it does kick the butt of my one

    http://www.emuparadise.org/vbulletin...ad.php?t=24893

This might help, but with both the files you should be able to burn straight from the mdf file.

When I unzipped the Street Fighter Alpha 3 iso, there were two files in the folder, as there usually are. But usually, the files have a .cue file or something, and a larger file (which I assume is the iso itself) that's something like a .iso or .nrg or .cdi or whatever. Alcohol 120% never had problems locating those, and the games always burned fine. But this one has a small .mds file and the larger (presumably the iso) .mdf file. However, the only fiel that shows up in Alcohol 120 when I try to burn it is the smaller .mds file. I've never burned the smaller file before. Am I supposed to burn that one, and it would work? You said I should be able ot burn straight from the .mdf file, but the mdf file doesn't show up.

Edit: I tried burning the smaller file, but it says the file is unrecognizable and won't burn. If I set it to "all files" the mdf file shows up, but a different menu comes up that I don't understand. I'd post a picture of what I mean, but I don't know how

If its trouble with the program you could always change the format with daemon tools or isobuster to make it an iso/bin etc, might be easier. or to check if its a problem with the mdf/mds file you mount the mds file in the daemon tools and the file should be read, if it comes up with an error there might be some thing up with the iso. if you use alcohol to "make" an image from the daemon tools (where the mds file is mounted) you can change the file extension to it. I think you can get Iso/bin/img/mdf files from alcohol. then just make the file onto your hard drive, make sure its in another file format, like iso or bin, these are a bit easier to work with. the other method with isobuster, I think is easier, but I've never used it, perhaps someone who knows might be able to fill you in on it.

That's.. way too complicated for me x.x;; I'll mess around with it for awhile, I suppose, and see what I can do. But truthfully.. I don't understand half the stuff you just said o.o Not your fault, of course, I'm just a moron when it comes to this

God, no, don't worry about it. I'd suggest another program but I don't know which other programs are able to burn mdf images. ISObuster should be an easier option for the changing image thing. just a thought, but are the files the same name? i.e. Street fighter.mdf and Street fighter.mds ? take into account that the names I think have to be exactly the same, including caps.

The mds is like the cue file, those files when opened with a burning program will tell the program to burn the larger iso file.

So burning the mdf is easy just open the mds with Alcohol and it will auto direct the proggy to the mdf file

The thing is mdf files can be in many diff formats of iso's, diff modes and so on, for this reason Alcohol images use mds files to tell the burner what mode to burn the mdf in and it also tells Alcohol to burn the mdf and not the mds file.

the mode thing I'm talking about is nothing to do with Dao/Raw modes and so on by the way.

In the "Select the Image FIle you would like to Record" section, I select the mds file (since that's the only one that shows up) and then click "Next", but a message comes up saying: "Unrecognized file format for recording! Please incert a recognized image file for recording"

Thats correct you burn from the mds file, you burn from the smaller file not the bigger file.

What Alcohol does is read the mds file first then looks for the mdf on it's own with out you having to tell it to.

Anotherwords Alcohol will read both the mds and the mdf even though you only physicly told Alcohol to read the mds

    **************** E * D * I * T ***************

Corupted file then not much you can do with that then.

one thing you can try is to open the thing directly with Daemon Tools for testing and see if the image is working to any extent, if that works fine then direct copy CD to CD from the Daemon drive

If the above doesn't work at all then you need to try and convert the format first with ISObuster then save the output with a cuesheet and open the new image by the cue sheet in a proggy called CDMage then scan the image for errors with CDMage

It looks like it's a corrupted file. Darn.. I put you all through all that for nothing -.- I'm sorry. Now I don't know what to do with all these blank CDs I have, either. Burning Dreamcast games is all I can think of. I don't listen to music, so downloading music is pointless. Burning games for other systems is pointless as well, since my Dreamcast is the only system that'll run burned games, that I know of.

Cd mage might fix the file, its a long shot but sometimes it works. there is a guide here that talks in detail about it.

Do you know of all the Emulators you can play on the Dreamcast apart from the Megadrive one, and there is also a ton of ports aswell

Try using SelfBoot Inducer to create your Emu/Port Dreamcast CD's
Please note that the game data files/roms are not included in the sbi files so you need to already have the game/rom, you usually get the instuctions with the sbi's anyway, that you can read before burning

    Emu's that work rather well:-
    NES
    SNES
    GameBoy+GBS+GBC
    MasterSystem
    GameGear
ZX Spectrum (Best use a keyboard for this)

    Ports that Work Rather Well:-
SCUMMVM (AKA Lucal Arts Point N Clicks)
    DooM (All Versions before III)
    Quake
Ultima IV (I think it's IV anyway but you need a keyboard for it anyway)

Thank you very much, but it's alright. I don't understand any of that. Creating my own stuff is far too complicated for me. Clicking on the link you provided just sends me to a page with more links. I don't know what to do. I also don't want you to go through so much trouble again, since you've already gone through so much with helping me in the past. It wouldn't be fair to you.

Did you try mounting the image on Alcohol's virtual drive, and then use another program (like CloneCD) to make a copy?
