    Default MAME ROM Translations?

I recently downloaded arcade ROMs of three relatively rare games: Ordyne, Genpei Toumaden (AKA The Genji & Heike Clans), & Valkyrie no Densetsu (AKA The Legend of Valkyrie). The ROMs of these three games are apparently available in Nihongo only (most likely because the arcade versions have never been released outside Japan). Anyways, there is a lot of Japanese-language story-line or menu-related text dialogue & narrative, especially in Legend of Valkyrie (it's an arcade RPG). I'm not fluent in Japanese.

After some time Googling to no avail, I found that posting this problem in hopes of help is my only resort: Are there English ROM translations available for the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (MAME)?

Since the three games mentioned above have been released in the U.S. as part of the Namco Museum compilations for the Sony PlayStation (Ordyne & Genji & Heike were released on volume four, AKA disc "C", & Valkyrie on volume five, AKA disc "O"), the only way to play these games in English is to get the Namco Museums & play them on the PSX. However, there is a lot of problem in doing that. The Namco Museums with the rarer games (volumes 2, 4, & 5, AKA "A", "C", & "O") are even more rare than just getting the arcade ROMs; they're priced at least US$30 each on eBay (I'm broke as a joke ), and that's assuming that I'm trying to get the NTSC-US/Canada versions. Their respective ISOz that are barely available on the Net are PAL-UK only, so I practically gave up looking for those. And aside from all that, I don't really want to play arcade games on a PSX or on ePSXe, anyways; I want to use MAME to play them. Besides, I heard that The Genji & Heike Clans from Namco Museum Vol. 4 doesn't even work on ePSXe.

So, in conclusion (finally...), I'm trying to see if MAME ROM translations exist. These translations can be in patch form or whatever. I don't know how ROM translations work 'cause I'm a n00b. Thank you for your time, & give yourself a pat on the back if you read this whole post .

No is the quick answer to any translations, but you could request the Namco's in either the torrent request section or the trading post.

Yes, just like it says on the download page. They only work for the actual site, though, of course, and not any FTPs or such.

Hm.. I'm currently trying to burn the Dreamcast version of Street Fighter Alpha 3, but the iso is in an MDF file and Alcohol 120% won't locate it. Is there any way to burn an MDF file to a CD using Alcohol 120%?

You don't have a .mds file for the game? Alcohol 120% locates those.

You could set it to check for files of any type and select the .mdf that way, but I'm not sure if it'll be properly burned then.

Yeah. But you'll need a MDS file (when you dump a game you get a MDF file and a MDS file, the MDS file is like a pointer... sort of). I can't really explain it in any better way... Anyway, you might be able to use a .cue file as a MDS file, but I'm not 100% sure that'll work.

And MDS file did come with it as well, and Alcohol 120% DOES target that. But the file isn't even a full mb. I wouldn't think burning the MDS file would do anything. Is that what I should do? Setting it to select "all files" and then selecting the MDF file brings up a different menu than usual that I don't understand.

an mds file is pretty much the same as a cue file. the mds file "accesses" the mdf file like the cue file would "access the bin file.
